Hello, stampers! I promised I would show you how I did this rainbow background during our preview party, so here it is. The images are from Tami Mayberry's new set, So Groovy.
I started by cutting a piece of cardstock to size, then I used sticky notes to mask off all but a small corner at the bottom. I tried to have the mask at a 45 degree angle just by eye balling it. Then I sponged Memento New Sprout ink, working from the masked edge and sponging onto the paper from that direction.
I moved the mask about 1/2 inch and sponged Memento Cantaloupe, again working the ink in from the mask, so that it would be darker on that edge and lighter as it transitioned into the green.
Moved the mask and sponged Memento Tangelo the same way.
This time with Memento Rose Bud.
Then Memento Lady Bug.
Memento Grape Jelly.
Memento Danube Blue. From there I started back with New Sprout and repeated until the entire panel was covered. Since my mask was very inky at that point, I replaced it before moving on to lighter colors.
To color that hip, retro van, I used Copic markers, starting with V09.
Added V06.
Added V04.
Added V01, leaving a small patch uncolored.
Then I used my blender pen and softened the look of the highlight. I colored the other sections of the van the same way.
For the windows, I used BG10.
Used N1 on the tires.
Added shading with N7.
Used C1 on the rims and to shade the white parts around the windows. After coloring, I cut out the image.
My rainbow background wound up being a little brighter than I intended, so I popped up the van on a simple white background, cut using Nestabiltities and backed with black scallop circles.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a fantastic day!
