Color Blocked Trees Card Video Tutorial

Hello there! I had so much fun making that color blocked card last week, I decided to do another one. This time I used The Northwoods and Vertical Greetings stamp sets, along with a brand new Spellbinders® die template set, A2 Modern Stationary.

Here is a video of the card as I made it. One thing I wish I had done differently is use black ink for the large tree and sentiment, to make them pop out a bit.

EDITED TO ADD - I heard from a reader who is having trouble seeing my videos when using her tablet. I'm going to try to remember to start adding a direct link to the videos at Youtube from now on. I'm hoping anyone having trouble seeing the videos on my blog will be able to see them at Youtube. I hope this helps anyone having trouble and so sorry for the inconvenience. (Thanks Christina for bringing this to my attention!)
Here is the link for today's video - Color Blocked Trees Video

I'll try to be back later this week with a new card. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

I thought it would be fun to do some color blocks on my card, so I started by creating stencils. I used Spellbinders® Curved Matting Basics B to cut openings in the centers of three pieces of scratch paper. I use the three smallest die template.

Then I used repositionable tape to adhere the largest stencil to my Pure Luxury White (5 X 5 inch) card base. With the stencil in place, I then sponged Gina K Sweet Mango ink.

I removed the first stencil, then positioned the second largest stencil. I sponged Gina K Bubblegum Pink ink in that opening.

Next, I switched to the smallest stencil and sponged Gina K Sweet Corn ink.

I stamped the flower image, from the Journey of the Heart using, Gina K Black ink.

Then I stamped the branch with Gina K Grass Green ink, but I first stamped off on scratch paper to make the image lighter.

Next I stamped the sentiment using Gina K Black ink.

It's a little hard to see in the photo, but I also added some decorative scoring in the corners using my Scor-Buddy.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!.

Tranquil Birthday Scene Card Tutorial and Video

Hello stamping friends! Long time no video, but I have one today. I actually shot a video for my last card, but was unable to publish it due to technical ineptitude difficulties. Luckily I figured out my mistake before I made this card. I used The Northwoods stamp set from Gina K Designs.

Here is the video, but if you prefer, there are step by step photos below.

Trim and piece of white cardstock to 3 1/4 by 4 1/2 inches and sponge Sweet Corn ink.

Cut a small circle using Spellbinders Classic Circles SM and trim in half with scissors. Use the semi-circle as a mask, then sponge over it with Sweet Mango ink.

Sponge Edible Eggplant ink.

Sponge Bubblegum Pink ink.

Sponge Little Boy Blue ink.

Sponge Blue Denim ink.

Use torn sticky notes to mask top and bottom, then sponge center with Chocolate Brown ink.

Sponge along the top torn edge with Black ink.

Remove masks and add new mask over top. Sponge with Edible Eggplant. (or maybe that is Blue Denim. I said Edible Eggplant in the video, but now I am thinking it is blue. Sorry about that!

Remove mask and stamp tree, from The Northwoods. Don't apply ink to the bottom of the stamp or use a mask to keep that part from stamping.

Mask the bottom, then stamp the small row of trees using Black ink, but stamp off on scratch paper first to make the image lighter.

Use N7 Copic marker to make reflection in water.

Add BV11 and BV13 to give more depth to the reflections and opaque white gel pen to make reflection for sun. I used my Faber Castel Big White Pen.

Stamp sentiment with Black.

The main panel was layered with Pure Luxury Black Onyx and the card base is Little Boy Blue (4 ¼ by 5 ½ inches).

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great day!

P.S. Did you see Gina has a brand new StampTV Kit out today? It's called Journey of the Heart and it is fantastic!

You & Me Card Making Tutorial

Hi there and happy Friday! Today I have a card made with a set I illustrated quite some time ago called Aloha. I also used the fantastic brand new Spellbinders® Celebration die template set.

To begin trim white cardstock to 4 ½by 5 ¼ inches and sponge with Gina K Sweet Corn ink.

Punch a tiny circle from a sticky note as a mask for the sun and then sponge more yellow.

Sponge Gina K Sweet Mango.

Sponge Gina K Cranberry Tart

Sponge Gina K Edible Eggplant.

Use a sticky note to mask a horizon line in and sponge Gina K Blue Denim.

Trim a slightly curvy line in another sticky note to mask the water's edge and then sponge Gina K Kraft ink.

Remove the masks and sponge more Edible Eggplant along the bottom and sides.

Use Faber-Castell Big White Pen to add reflection for the sun in the water.

Use a yellow pen to add a bit of color over the white.

Color in some waves with Copic marker BV13.

Blend with B21.

Then add C5 to shade and use the previous two colors to add more texture and blend.

Stamp the palm tree, from Aloha using Gina K Black ink.

Fill in with N7 and use C5 to shade below the tree a bit.

Add a bit of color to the palm fronds using YG95.

I layered the scene with Pure Luxury Dark Chocolate and used a Sandy Beach card base (4 ¼ by 5 ½ inches). The sentiment is from Spellbinders Celebration and cut/embossed from Pure Luxury Dark Chocolate cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Vertical Birthday Wishes Card Making Tutorial

Hello and Happy New Year! Thanks again to everyone that participated in the Season's Givings Blog Hop. My winner is posted here in case you missed it. Today I have a card featuring images from my latest stamp set, Vertical Greetings from Gina K Designs.

Start by stamping the poppy image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Start coloring with Copic marker YR07.

 Add YR04.

 Then add YR12.

 And fill in with YR000.

For the stems, use YG95. After coloring, cut out the image.

Cut and emboss ivory cardstock using Spellbinders® A2 Matting Basics A and sponge Memento Pistachio ink while still in the die template.

Stamp the vertical sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I adhered the flowers to the die cut using 3D Foam Squares. The card base is made using Pure Luxury Fresh Asparagus cardstock and I embossed a frame using A2 Matting Basics A again. To finish the card, I embossed a strip of vellum using Spellbinders Harlequin M'Bossibilities™ side B added vertically to the side of the card base, along with a strip of DCWV Burlap Paper added horizontally.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm comfy here in California, but thinking of all of you who are suffering bitter cold temperatures. Stay safe and warm!
