Ornate Birthday Card with Hatpin Bezel Tutorial

Hello! Today I used one of Spellbinders®' new Media Mixage™ Square Hatpin Bezels on my card.

Here is a close up of the bezel. I used an image from Piddix and added Ice Resin® and a little key charm to my bezel. The hatpins make great accents for cards and can also be removed and used as a hatpin, lapel pin and anything you can think up!

Here is a quick video showing how I made my bezel. The possibilities for making bezels in any style are endless. This is just one of many ways to make them. I love adding Ice Resin® to mine, because it gives it such a polished look when finished.

To make the card, start by nesting Decorative Labels Twenty-eight #1 and #2 die templates (with one being the smallest die template) and cut/emboss tan cardstock. Then, with the cardstock still in the die template, sponge using Memento Dessert Sand ink. I'll only be using the outside frame portion on my card.

Cut/emboss the #3 die template with Ivory cardstock, then sponge using Memento Desert Sand ink.

Ink up the branch, from Gina K Designs Dogwood and Butterfly stamp set, using Memento Rich Cocoa ink. Stamp off on scratch paper once, then stamp on the die cut. I used a sticky note to mask off at the bottom, so it wouldn't show beneath my frame after assembling.

Stamp the sentiment, also from Dogwood and Butterfly, using Memento Espresso Truffle.

Cut and emboss tan cardstock with the largest die template from Ornate Squares, then sponge using Memento Desert Sand ink.

Assemble the card, adhering the layers with 3D Foam Sqaures and add a silk ribbon bow, Then attach the hatpin bezel and embellish with self adhesive pearls.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Captivating Balloons Tutorial and Video

Hello and happy Monday to you! Today I have an Up and Away card tutorial, along with a video. I used Copic markers to add shading to the paper-pieced hot air balloons.

Here is the video. Step by step photos are below.

Start by stamping the hot air balloons using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, on pattern paper. I used Bo Bunny's Country Garden pattern paper.

Add some shading to the larger image using Copic marker E02.

Blend into the highlight areas with E00.

Use YR65 on the horizontal bands.

I decided I wanted a bit more contrast, so added W1 along the lines of the hot air balloon.

For the smaller hot air balloon, start with E31.

Then added E51.

Use E35 to color in the basket portion of both images, then cut out.

Cut and emboss Spellbinders™Classic Squares SM #7 die template (with #1 being the smallest), then sponge with Memento Desert Sand, while still in the die template.

Sponge Memento Rich Cocoa ink.

Stamp the sentiment, also from Up and Away, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Cut and embossed Spellbinders Captivating Squares #4 die template. Adhere hot air balloons to square layer, using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Foam Squares. Cut Pure Luxury ivory cardstock to form a 4 3/4 inch by 4 3/4 inch card base. Use Captivating Squares die template to emboss a frame on the card base. Secure layers, then use a corner rounder punch to add a curve to each corner.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Wish You Were Here Card Tutorial

Hello there! I have a card to share today which features images from Country Roads. I also made a video to go along with it, or you can just skip the video and scroll down for the step by step photos if you prefer.

I started with a piece of 4 3/4 by 3 1/2 inch white cardstock, then sponged Gina K Sweet Corn ink. As you can see, I didn't sponge as smoothly as I normally try to do and this time went for a more splotchy look. To do this, I didn't tap off the ink on scratch paper as much, so it make heavier marks. I did still try to keep the sponge dauber moving at all times.

Next I added Gina K Sweet Mango ink. Again, I kept it pretty splotchy, working mainly from the sides and letting a lot of the yellow come through in the middle.

Then I added Gina K Honey Mustard ink. This time focusing more at the top and sides and creating some swipes of color to build up that cloud look.

I added Gina K Red Hot ink, working mostly on the bottom and lower sides. For this color, I wanted a smoother look, so I tapped off on scratch paper a lot more and built the color up slowly.

Then for even deeper color, I added Gina K Cherry Red.

I used Copic markers to draw in some wispy clouds. I started with E19 and drew some horizontal bands, then added E15, E97 and W1.

I cut a slightly wavy line in sticky notes to use as a mask and sponged Gina K Black Onyx ink along the bottom.

Removed the mask and stamped the windmill, from Country Roads, using Gina K Black ink.

Stamped the small thistle plant with black.

Then stamped the sentiment with black.

I layered with a piece of Pure Luxury Black Onyx and used a Pure Luxury Honey Mustard card base (5 1/2 by 4 1/4 inches).

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you have a great day!

Hot Air Balloon Card Tutorial

Hello! Here is a card featuring images from my newest stamp set, Up and Away from Gina K Designs. If you pop over to the store be sure to check out all the new products in the store. There is a new StampTV Kit and a bunch of new Gina K Color Companions inks, buttons and ribbons! This card also uses one of the new Spellbinders® Nestabilities® Card Creator sets, called Pearl Effects.

To begin I cut and embossed Pure Luxury White cardstock using Spellbinders Nestabilities A2 Matting Basics B, then sponged a bit of Memento Cantaloupe ink.

Sponged Memento Angel Pink ink.

Sponged Memento Lilac Posies.

Sponged Memento Bahama Blue.

Then sponged Memento Danube Blue.

The large hot air balloon was stamped on white, using Memento Tuxedo black ink. I started coloring with a V12 Copic marker.

Added V04.

Then added V06.

I started on the other stripes using B21. Then added B23 (sorry, I missed snapping that photo).

Added added B26.

I finished with E31 on the basket and Y23 on the horizontal stripes. After coloring, I cut out the image.

On the medium hot air balloon, I started with B00.

Added BG02.

Then added BG05 and cut out this image, too.

For the clouds, I inked up with Memento Tuxedo Black, but stamped off once on scratch paper to make the image lighter. To color, I started with W3.

Then added W1 and used my blender pen to smooth out the transition to white. I cut out the clouds, too.

I stamped the sentiment, also from Up and Away on the background, then adhered the clouds. The hot air balloons were attached with 3D Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®. I layered with Pure Luxury Vibrant Purple, cut and embossed with Pearl Effects Nestabilities. The 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inch card base is Pure Luxury White.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope your weekend is fabulous!
