Monochromatic Bird of Paradise Tutorial

Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Before I talk about my card, I want to let you know about a wonderful End of Year Sale at Gina K Designs. For the first time, select stamp sets are retiring and on sale for 40% off! Be sure to check out the team's Pinterest Board for some inspiration featuring the retiring sets.

And now about the card. I used the bird of paradise image from Elegant Florals. To begin, I cut a piece of Pure Luxury card stock to 2 ½ by 2 ½ inches and rounded the corners. Then I sponged Memento Desert Sand ink in the middle.

Stamped the flower using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Began coloring with my E27 Copic marker.

Added E25.

Then filled in with E31.

I had left one petal uncolored for a bit of contrast and I used E53 on that one.

Then I added YG93 to the stem.

I used BV00 to add a shadow around the edges of the flower.

I used Spellbinders™ Marvelous Squares Nestabilities® to cut another piece of Ivory Pure Luxury card stock and sponged Memento Rich Cocoa while it was still in the die template.

I layered with more pieces cut from Pure Luxury Dark Chocolate card stock, using Marvelous Sqares.  The ivory card base is 5 inches square. I added a sheer bow, embellished with a pearl brad.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you have a great weekend! I'll try to get back to more regular posting after the New Year. Busy, busy busy!

Stay safe and stay warm!

Happiness Today Tutorial

Hello! Today I have a clean and simple card using Elegant Florals. I fixed my camera settings for this one, so the photos should be a little more clear.

To begin, I stamped the calla lily image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then colored with Copics, starting with Y21.

 Added Y000.

For the stamin, I used Y35. Then I used C1 to add a bit of shading.

For the stem I filled in with YG03.

Then used YG93 to shade. After coloring, I cut out the flower.

Next I cut and embossed Pure Luxury Ivory card stock, using Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® Classic Ovals, then sponged with Memento Rich Cocoa while still in the die template.

Then sponged Memento Cantaloupe over the brown to warm it up just a bit.

I formed a 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inch Ivory card base and stamped the foliage image using Rich Cocoa ink. I only inked up the top portion of the image.

Stamped the foliage a second time.

The oval and flower were adhered to the card base using Pop Dots. I stamped the sentiment and added a silk ribbon bow, then added score lines using my Scor-Buddy.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Blooming Smiles

Hello there! I hope you had a good weekend. We had snow most of the day Saturday, which is a bit of a rarity here, so it was nice, but cold! I'm always mesmerized watching the snow fall, so I didn't get much done this weekend, but I did manage to make a few cards.

I have step by step photos for this one, but I accidentally turned off the macro setting on my camera, so many are blurry. Sorry about that! All the images are from my most recent stamp set for Gina K Designs, Elegant Florals.

To begin, I cut a piece of Pure Luxury White card stock to 3 3/4 by 5 inches. Then I sponged with Memento Cantaloupe ink, using my Jumbo Sponge Daubers.

Sponged Memento Bamboo Leaves.

Then sponged just a bit at the bottom with Memento Olive Grove.

At the top, I sponged Memento Angel Pink.

Then sponged Memento Grape Jelly.

Using the eucalyptus image, I stamped with Memento Bamboo Leaves.

Using another image, I stamped in the upper corning using Memento Grape Jelly. I stamped off on scratch paper before stamping on my scene, to make the image lighter.

Then I stamped the sentiment, using Memento Tuxedo Black.

The narcissus was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, then colored with Copics, starting with Y17.

Then added Y21.

And filled in with Y000.

On the stems, I started with YG97.

I filled in with YG03, then used a blender pen to push in some highlights. After coloring, I cut out the image.

I used Spellbinder™Nestabilities® A2 Matting Basics A to emboss a frame on the background, then layered with Pure Luxury Vibrant Purple. I added a sheer organza bow, using some gorgeous wrinkled edge ribbon that can be found at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. I'm about to run out of this ribbon I received a sample of and Sharon, from Stamp Simply, was so kind to order some for me and is now carrying it in the store. Yay! The cut out flowers were adhered using Pop Dots. The 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inch card base is Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight White.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!
