Snowman Wishes Tutorial - A Gina K Blog Hop and Special

Hello there! Today the Gina K Design Team are blog hopping to introduce four fabulous new "Duos" stamp sets and an amazing Labor Day sale.

I used the new Snowman Wishes Duo on my card. For more inspiration from the rest of the design team, check out the links below...

To make my card, I stamped on Pure Luxury white card stock and began coloring the snowman with my BV11 Copic marker.

Added BV000.

To color the scarf, I started with RV27.

Added R24.

Then filled in with R22.

For the band on the hat, I started with G07.

Then filled in with G03.

I used N5 to color the hat.

Added N3.

Then filled in with N1. After coloring, I cut out the snowman.

For the background, I started with a piece of Pure Luxury white card stock to 3 ¼ by 4 ½ inches. I cut a curvy line in sticky notes to mask the bottom and then sponged Memento Lulu Lavender ink.

Sponged a bit of Memento Grape Jelly.

Then sponged very lightly with Memento Danube Blue.

I moved the sticky notes lower and sponged using the Grape Jelly Jumbo Dauber, without re-inking.

Then I removed the masks completely and sponged a bit more around the edges.

I adhered the snowman to the background and colored in a shadow below him with my C3 Copic marker.

I used an opaque white gel pen to draw in some snowflakes in the background, then layered with Pure Luxury Vibrant Purple. The card base is 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inches and Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight White.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you have a fabulous day!

Covered Bridge with Limited Colors Tutorial

Howdy! For today's card I decided to limit myself to just a few Copic markers. I tend to reach for more markers, in the same color family, than I really need, so it's nice to remind myself that it really is possible to color and shade with just a few colors and a blender pen.

I stamped the covered bridge, on Pure Luxury Ivory, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and cut it out using Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® Labels Eighteen.

I started with E57 to color the bridge, leaving some white space.

Then I used my blender pen all over the bridge, including the white spaces I had left. The blender solution allowed some of the brown ink to bleed into the white spaces and also pushed some of the ink through the paper, creating the blending I was looking for.

I wanted to bring some of the darker shading back in, so I used E57 again.

For the roof, foundation and rocks, I used N5, coloring deeper around the edges and lighter in the center.

Then I used the blender pen to lighten the areas I wanted highlighted.

Next, I used YG97 on the trees and shrubs.

Then I used the blender pen to push highlights in again.

For the stream, I used B41 and the blender pen.

After coloring, I sponged Memento Toffee Crunch around the edges of the die template, using my Jumbo Sponge Dauber.

I finally ordered the last two new Memento colors I needed, along with a few new Pure Luxury colors. This is PL Dusty Sage and the ink is Memento Olive Grove. I used Spellbinders new A2 Matting Basics B to cut out the Dusty Sage and sponged Olive Grove while still in the die template.

I layered with a piece of Pure Luxury Chocolate Brown and used Sandy Beach for the 5 ½ by 4 ¼ inch card base. The sentiment is stamped on PL Ivory and adhered with Pop Dots.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!
