Hey, stampers! It's another day of oldies, but goodies from the Gina K Design Team. Today we are spotlighting sets by Alicia K and past StampTV kits. I love Alicia's Feel the Magic set. All the images are adorable and that little jack-o-latern looks a little mischievous, so I decided to have him go joy riding on the witch's broom. It's hard to tell from the photo above, but I made a bag-a-lope treat holder. (Instructions below)
Next up is one of my fave StampTV kits, Signs of Autumn. Aren't those pumpkins gorgeous? I'm so ready for fall. I love spring and fall, but I think fall edges spring out by a hair, because I'm so drawn to fall colors. (I'll share the step by step photos for this card next week.)
For even more samples of some of our favorite 'Blast from the Past' GinaK Designs stamp sets, check out these participating designer's blogs:
The entire GinaK Designs team would like to invite you to the virtual Release party we'll be having this Thursday, August 5th on StampTV. It will be a bit different than our usual release party, but we'll still have challenges, contest questions, and designer samples that you won't want to miss out on! More information on that event will be shared by GinaK soon, so stay tuned to her blog for all the details this week.
To make the bag-a-lope, I sealed an A2 sized envelope (the size that fits a 4.25 by 5.5 card). then I used a border punch on one of the narrow sides to open it. You could just make a straight cut, but I wanted it to be a little decorative. So now the side is open and the other three sides are closed. I scored a line 3/4 inch on each of the closed sides.
I opened up the envelope by sticking my hand inside and puffed it out. There will be two little tabs on the bottom. If you want to stamp or sponge directly onto the envelope, you should do it before you puff out the bag, to make it easier.
I used Scor-tape and folded the tabs down to the bottom.
I used the jack-o-lantern and broom, from Feel the Magic and colored with Copics, starting with YR07 on the pumpkin.
Added YR04.
Filled in with YR02.
Used YR12 on the pumpkin sides that show in the carving.
Then used Y17 for the glow.
YG95 and YG99 on the stem. I seem to have lost the pictures from coloring the broom, but I used E57 & E53 on the broom handle and E51 & E53 on the straw. After coloring, I cut out the images.
I used images from Spooky Silhouettes for the background. I inked up the moon with Distress Scattered Staw and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I love that you can emboss with Distress ink! The distressed look you get on solid images is also perfect for simulating the mottled look of the moon.
I sponged around the moon with Memento Summer Sky. The embossing resisted the blue ink.
Sponged in from the edges with Memento Lulu Lavender.
Then sponged around the edges with Memento Grape Jelly.
After sponging, I stamped the tree, bat and sentiments, from Spooky silhouettes with Black Stazon. The broom and jack-o-lantern were adhered with Pop Dots. I layered with Pure Luxury Black Onyx, White, and Pumpkin Spice. I don't know who originally came up with this idea, but they sure are fun to do and the perfect size for a few Halloween treats. BTW, those three little candies... GONE! Guess, I'll have to go to the store for more props.
Thanks for visiting. I'll see you tomorrow with more Blast from the Past faves. Have a great day!
P.S. I haven't mentioned it lately, but you can almost always click on my photos for a larger view.
