Gina K Blast From The Past Hop

Hello! This week the GKD Design Team are going to be showcasing some of their favorite older stamp set in a week long Blast From The Past Celebration! Today we are featuring stamp sets illustrated by two amazingly talented illustrators, Melanie Muenchinger and Nina Brackett.

First is a card using A Year of Leaves, one of my all time favorite stamp sets from Melanie. These leaves can be the focal point in a spring or autumn themed card, or as an accent for some of your favorite flower stamps. (Detail photos below)

Next is one of my favorite Nina sets, Lord of the Season. This is such a great set because there is something for every season of the year. I love the way Nina illustrated these images to look both whimsical and elegant at the same time. I made a little gift box, perfect for small gifts this holiday season.( I'll share the directions for this project next week!)

For even more samples of some of our favorite 'Blast from the Past' GinaK Designs stamp sets, check out these participating designer's blogs:
The entire GinaK Designs team would like to invite you to the virtual Release party we'll be having this Thursday, August 5th on StampTV.  It will be a bit different than our usual release party, but we'll still have challenges, contest questions, and designer samples that you won't want to miss out on!  More information on that event will be shared by GinaK soon, so stay tuned to her blog for all the details this week.

To make the leafy card, I stamped the leaf with Memento Tuxedo Black in and colored with Copics, starting with E51. I filled in the entire image, going over the lines, since I planned to cut out the image.

Added E39 along the veins and edges.

I colored over and out from the previous color using YR14.

Went back over the veins and edges with E39.

For the background, I stamped the leave all around the edge using Versa Mark ink, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I sponged Antique Linen Distress Ink. The embossed images resisted the ink, causing them to stand out.

Sponged Scattered Straw Distress Ink.

Sponged Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I stamped the sentiment in the middle of the background, then layered the leaves around, using Pop Dots. I used Pumpkin Spice and Chocolate Brown for layering and a Pumpkin Spice card base.

Thanks for stopping by. More Blast From the Past favorites tomorrow! I hope you have a great day!
