A Deer for Dad

I made this card for my dad's birthday. He is off hunting, so I thought a card inspired by his desire to hunt harmless woodland animals might be appropriate.

I don't have any deer stamps so I had to draw one. I colored it in with Koh-i-noor pencils and blended with odorless mineral spirits. Then I cut it out and heat embossed it with matte clear embossing powder.

For the background I sponged Certainly Celery and Old Olive. Then I stamped trees from Lovely as a Tree with Old Olive ink, stamping off on scratch paper first.

The layers below that are Basic Black, Chocolate Chip and a Kiwi Kiss card base.

Happy World CardMaking Day! Check out the amazing celebration Gina K is having. Wow!

Limelight Paper Crafts is having a bunch of fun contests.

There is a fun blog hop going on at Unity.

Have a great day!

Oh WOWZA! This is an awesome piece of art Theresa! This looks so real! Like you could pet it! (which is what you SHOULD do not hunt them, lol!) Men folk around here are the same way though...

I dont know how you go about it, but you ought to submit your drawings for stamps..seriously check into it!!

I am in total agreement -- lots of people with far less talent are doing their own sets these days. I would like to submit a link to this post to Gina K. Designs, Cornish Heritage Farms, and other likely places for them to see your art.

Cornish Heritage Farms would be a natural for you!

No way Hose... It looks like the deer head is sticking out of the card. A real one. Great job with the drawing and using the matte clear embossing powder, Genius. I didn't even know something like that existed. Gotta get me some of that.

WELL DONE!!!!
