Hello there! Today I have a card for a very sad occasion. One of our dear friends from StampTV, Lynn Brookside has passed away and I made this card to send to her daughter. Lynn was such a wonderful person, always leaving kind and encouraging comments for me and so many others. Despite living in constant, chronic pain, she always had a cheerful outlook to share with the rest of us. I'm going to miss her. Melanie, who knew Lynn much better than I wrote a very touching post about Lynn, which you can find here and even more here. I hope you'll stop by and read it. I knew Lynn was a special person, but didn't realize just how special.
Before I get started I want to let you know I began with a piece of Pure Luxury White card stock that is much larger than in the finished project. That is because I made a mistake later that caused me to have to cut it down.
So I started by sponging Memento Cantaloupe ink at the bottom of the card stock.
Then sponged some Memento Tangelo above the yellow.
Sponged Memento Angel Pink above the orange.
Then I sponged Memento Summer Sky from the top down.
Then sponged just a tiny bit of Memento Danube Blue at the top.
To make some wispy clouds, I colored some wide lines with BV000.
Then added a little BV01.
I made more lines with YR61.
Then more with C1.
I used C3 to add some shading to the C1 lines.
Stamped the silhouette foliage, from Country Roads, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
I used torn sticky notes to mask the background and sponged a narrow band of Tuxedo Black ink.
Moved the sticky notes higher and sponged Memento Gray Flannel.
Here is where I messed up. I stamped the windmill, from Country Roads, with gray ink and decided it was too light, then tried to stamp over it again. I didn't line it up well enough, so I just trimmed that section away.
Next, I stamped the dragonfly, from Follow Your Dreams, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and used B00 to begin coloring the wings.
Added B02.
Then I added V04 and used B02 to blend. I didn't get a photo for the next step, but I used N03 to color the body. After coloring, I cut out the dragonfly.
I stamped the sentiment, from Heartfelt, on my background, using Tuxedo Black ink.
Then I adhered the dragonfly using Pot Dots. The card base is Pure Luxury Little Boy Blue and size is 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inches. I used Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® A2 Matting Basics B to emboss a frame on the card base. The background was layered with a piece of Pure Luxury Black Onyx.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Thank you for the great tutorial on how to create the lovely background on your pretty card. Your dragonfly looks very nice popped up.
I am glad I am not the only one who has to rethink a design after a stamping miscalculation! :)

You are too hard on yourself. It is a beautiful windmill and now it has a lovely shadow. Maybe you will make a bookmark out of it. Your card art is stunning, Always...
