Butterfly Friend

Hello! I'm late again. No excuse except to say I am easily distracted. Today I played along with the Ways to Use It Challenge at SCS, to use kraft colored cardstock in a project. I pulled out three Gina K stamp sets, Take Flight, Botanical Dreams and Tag Lines.

Here are the details from this card...

I stamped the butterfly with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Pure Luxury White cardstock. Then I used Copic marker, Y21 and went over the entire image in a circular motion.

Next I used R24 and made very fine lines where I wanted the most intense color. If you can see where I added the red, just click on the photo for a larger view.

Next I used YR07 in tiny circular motions and blended out from the red just a tiny bit.

I followed that with YR04, using the same circular motion. I wanted the color to stretch out further from the center than from the sides, so I made larger circles when working on the inside shading.

Next I added YR12, again adding more to the center than the sides, or bottom.

I added Y23 to smooth into the original yellow.

I decided at the last minute that I needed more color, so I added some more shading, using the same colors and blending, around the edges of the bottom. I also used one of the darker colors to fill in the open circles on the butterfly wings. Finally, I used my blender pen to push some of the color from the lightest parts of the butterfly, making them even lighter. After coloring, I cut the image out.

For the background, I stamped the daisy from Botanical Dreams on 3 1/2 by 4 3/4 inch piece of Pure Luxury White cardstock. I used Copics, V01, V12, V04 and V06 to color the flower. After coloring, I embossed the flower with clear embossing powder.

After I embossed the flower, I sponged the background with So Saffron and Creamy Caramel inks. Then I repeatedly stamped a sentiment from Botanical Dreams with Creamy Caramel.

The "my friend" sentiment is from Tag Lines. I punched it out with my oval Stampin' Up punch. I used my larger SU punch to make the background layers. The layers are Pure Luxury Black Onyx, SU Pale Plum and Kraft.

I'll be back tomorrow with a new Out West project and my guest designer, Cathy will also have an amazing new project to share with you.

Thank you for visiting. Have a great day!
