Hello! I said I would post this yesterday, featuring The Northwoods, but I'm a day late. This is a card I made for my nephew, who just graduated from the police academy. We are so proud of him!
Before I get to the tutorial, I want to give you a little health update to explain why my posting has been so sporadic and will continue to be for at least a few more weeks. I had surgery on my ankle a few weeks ago and I'm having to keep it elevated to control the swelling. That means my crafting time is getting done in fits and starts because I can only spend a little time stamping before I have to go back to elevating the foot. With what little time I can manage right now, I'm having to focus on meeting design team assignments, rather than make projects for the blog.
If you're wondering about what happened to my foot, I rolled my ankle from stepping on a rock, while hiking last August. Apparently it caused some tears in tendons, a hairline fracture in one of the bones of my foot and the ankle bone even had a small hole that was punched into it from the bone above. Luckily, the hairline fracture healed on it's own, but the tendons needed to be repaired surgically and the debris cleaned up from the ankle bone. I have another two weeks in a cast, and then I should get to go into a walking boot and allowed to put a bit of weight on the foot. Things should get easier when that happens and hopefully, I can get back to my craft room!
Now to my card...
To begin, I used Spellbinders™ Classic Circles Nestabilities® to cut a circle mask for the moon. Then I sponged Memento Summer Sky ink around the mask.
Next I sponged Memento Danube Blue, starting from the edges and working in toward the lighter blue.
Then I removed the mask and sponged Memento Paris Dusk, mostly around the edges, but I also did some horizontal swipes across the sky to make it look like there were some wispy clouds.
I used sticky notes to mask the sky, then used the same circle mask to for the moon reflection. Then I sponged lightly with Memento Danube Blue.
I removed those masks and then stamped the tree, from The Northwoods, using Memento Tuxedo Balck ink.
Just a reminder, you can click on the photos to see them larger.
Then I used some torn sticky notes to mask the water, forming a small area to look like a bank, and sponged Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
Then created another bank on the other side.
After removing those masks, I sponged lightly, along the bottom, with the same jumbo sponge dauber I used for the Tuxedo Black ink. I didn't re-ink the sponge dauber, using just the residual ink on it.
Next, I used a N7 Copic marker to draw in a shadow for the tree.
I layered with Pure Luxury In The Navy card stock and used a Powder Blue card base (4 ¼ by 5 ½ inches). The sentiment, from Follow Your Dreams, was stamped on vellum.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I'll be back tomorrow with a new tutorial. Have a wonderful day!
These new dies are gorgeous! And your cards are beautiful! I only own the basic Spellbinders dies. Circles, Ovals, Scallops and the card layering dies. But, it seems I use them all the time. Like your stamp sets and hope I am lucky for a change.

Goosebumps Resist Background Tutorial
Hello there! Today I have a card using my new The Northwoods stamp set, along with a fun background using Goosebumps texture spray from Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko.
To start, I cut a piece of Pure Luxury Ivory card stock, to 3 3/4 by 5 1/4 inches. Then I spritzed some Goosebumps on the paper.
I've found that if you have your card stock close when you spritz, you get a bolder pattern and if you hold it further away, you get a finer mist. Also, be sure to clean the nozzle thoroughly after using to prevent it from clogging. I hadn't cleaned mine well last time and it affected how well it sprayed. Luckily, after using it this time, I was able to get it clean and spritzing perfectly again.
After letting it dry, I sponged Memento Desert Sand ink.
Then sponged Memento Rich Cocoa around the edges.
For the focal layer, I cut & embossed ivory card stock, using Spellbinders™Nestabilities® Matting Basics A, then sponged Memento Cantaloupe ink in the center.
I cut a mask from a sticky note, using Spellbinders Circle Nestabilities, then sponged more Cantaloupe ink around the mask.
Sponged Memento Desert Sand all around.
Then I tore a sticky note to mask off the sky and sponged more Desert Sand ink along the edge of the mask.
I moved the mask lower, then sponged using Memento Rich Cocoa. I kept the sponge dauber very dry, by sponging off on scratch paper first, so it would be fairly light.
I removed the mask, then stamped the tree, from The Northwoods, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
Stamped the deer, also with Tuxedo Black.
Using my W5 Copic marker, I drew in some shadows.
Then added to the shadows with W3.
I layered using Pure Luxury Dark Chocolate card stock and used Ivory for my 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inch card base.
Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a fabulous day!

Flowers, Dots & Tags Tutorial
Hello there! Here is a card I made for the last Gina K Designs release party. I used images from three different stamp sets, A Year of Flowers 2, Lots of Dots and All Occasion Tags 2.
To start, I stamped a flower image, from A Year of Flowers 2, on white card stock and began coloring with my Y21 Copic marker.
Added Y17.
For the petals I started with R05.
Added RV23.
Then filled in with RV21. After coloring, I cut out the flowers.
Next, I cut a circle with Spellbinders™Circle Nestabilities and sponged Memento Cantaloupe ink while still in the die template.
I stamped a stem and leaf on the right, then used a mask to cover the first leaf before stamping the stem and leaves on the left.
I removed the mask and began coloring with YG03.
Then filled in with YG95.
On white card stock, I stamped one of the tag images, from All Occasion Tags 2, using Memento Rose Bud ink.
Then I used sticky notes to mask off the frame and sponged Memento Cantaloupe ink. After sponging, I removed the mask, stamped the sentiment and cut out the tag.
For the card base (4 ¼ by 5 ½ inches), I used Pure Luxury Jelly Bean card stock and stamped the dot image, from Lots of Dots, using Pear Tart ink.
I adhered the background, flowers and tag, using 3D Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. I added eyelets to the tag before assembling and threaded a ribbon through them. The pretty sheer ribbon is part of the Gina K Color Companions collection.
Thanks for the visit. I hope your week is off to a fabulous start!

Glossy Spritzed Background Trees
Hey there! Yesterday I was playing around with glossy card stock and Gina K inks. Here are a few cards I made, also using The Northwoods stamp set.
Here is the second card. For more inspiration using The Northwoods, check out the awesome video Gina posted on StampTV today! You can find it here. She shows you how to make a wonderful woodgrain texture.
To make my spritzed background, I sponged Gina K Powder Blue ink, in a random pattern on glossy card stock.
Then filled in the rest of the card stock by sponging Gina K Fresh Asparagus. Apparently the Fresh Asparagus ink pad is camera shy, so the Powder Blue ink pad volunteered for another photo.
Then I used a small spray mister to spritz water on the glossy card stock. As it dries, you get some nice splatter marks.
For the second card, I stamped the tree with Memento Rich Cocoa. For the first card I stamped the trees using Memento Tuxedo Black.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great day!
