Shapely Swan

Happy Monday! Today's sketch challenge at StampTV is a round shaped card. I haven't done a round card in ages, so this was fun. I used images from Warm With Love and Spellbinders Blossom Nestabilities.

Here is the sketch. One lucky participant will be randomly chosen to win a Gina K Designs stamp set of their choice. I hope you'll play along!

I inked up my image using Memento Markers. I used the Tuxedo Black marker for the swan and reflection and used the Bamboo Leaves marker for the water grass.

Here you can see how it looked after stamping with the markers. Tip: When inking with markers, if it takes long to fill in the image, the ink can get dry and not stamp well. To get a good image, "huff" on the stamp before stamping. The moisture from your breath will re-moisten the ink and improve the stamped image.

I used Copic markers to color the swan, starting with C5. I used YR16 on the beak.

I added C3, then used the blender pen to smooth out the transition to white.

I stamped the swan a second time on scratch paper and cut it out to use as a mask. I used re-positionable tape to hold it in place. Then I sponged Memento Angel Pink ink while the background was still in the die.

Sponged Memento Rose Bud ink.

To get a horizon line, I placed a sticky note across the top and sponged Memento Rose Bud again.

Removed the mask and sticky note, then used N1 to shade in the reflections. I also used R83, R25 and an opaque white gel pen to add some ripples in the water.

For my card base I cut two large pieced of Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight White cardstock. then I sponged Memento Rose Bud ink on one piece, which would be the card front.

With the second card base piece, I scored a line near the top and adhered that part to the card front, so that it would hinge near the top. I added a piece of ribbon and self adhesive pearls, then adhered my image panel.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a great day!
