Happy Monday! I stamped this bug from Unity while visiting with my sister last week and finally got a chance to make it into a card. I also managed to fit it into a few of the Dare To Get Dirty challenges over at SCS. Wowza, what a challenge frenzy there is over there right now. This card meets Jeanne's color challenge (yellow, green, red - I used red on the brake lights) and Julie's Just Faux You (no embellies, ribbon or DP).
To color the bug, I started with my Y000 Copic and filled in all over the body of the bug.
Then I filled in most of the way with Y21, leaving a few areas in the center for highlights.
Then I added Y17, working it into the seams & edges and blending out from there.
Next I used YR07 where I wanted the deepest coloring.
Used C3 on the bumper.
Then added C1.
I used C1 and B00 on the window and mirror. Used R24 and Y17 on the brake lights. After coloring, I cut out the image.
Next I created my faux DP background, first by sponging Memento New Sprout.
Then sponged a bit of Memento Bamboo Leaves just along the edges.
I used the cute flowers from Melanie's Fun Year Round set and stamped with Memento Tangelo, stamp some of the images off once for a varied look. I love all the accessory images in that set and think they make a great retro look for the bug.
The sentiment is also from Fun Year Round and layered with Pure Luxury Sweet Mango which was cut using Nestabilities. I layered the background with Black Onyx and used a Dandelion card base.
Thanks for the visit. I hope your day is happy!!!
