Toucan Greetings

Hiya, Stampers! I made a card for some more Dare To Get Dirty challenges. This one fits Bev's TV Dinner Challenge (mine is inspired by Magnum PI), Dawn B's Winged Things and Kim Teasdales Sketch Challenge. All the images are from Aloha (Gina K Designs).

To color the toucan, I used Copic markers, starting with YR07.

Added Y21, going over the previous color in a small circular motion and spreading out from there.

I added C1 to the face, overlapping the yellow a bit and leaving a highlight area in the center.

Added C3 for deeper shading around the beak and along the back of the head.

Used N7 to outline the body, wings and little doodad that sticks up from the head.

I overlapped the N7 with N5 and worked our in small circular motions.

Used N3 to overlap N5, blending out in small circular motions.

Filled in with N1. Then I used the darker colors to deepen the shading a bit.

I used E31 on the legs and E57 to outline the branch.

Filled in the branch with E53.

Cut a circle using Nestabilities, then sponged Memento Cantaloupe ink, starting at the edges and working my way in.

Sponged Memento Tangelo, keeping the color closer to the edges.

For the larger background piece, I sponged Memento Lulu Lavender, keeping the center a bit lighter.

Sponged Memento Grape Jelly.

Next (not pictured), I sponged Memento Paris Dusk.

I stamped the palm tree with Memento Tuxedo Black.

Colored in the palm trees with N5 and N7.

I cut a scallop strip, using my EK Success slimline big scallop punch, then sponged Memento Cantaloupe and Tangelo.

I layered with Pure Luxury Black Onyx, Sweet Mango and used a Vibrant Purple cardbase. The toucan is adhered using Pop Dots.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

  2. I just wanted to comment that your cards are so pretty. I bought the Aloha set from seeing your cards. I want to thank you for showing us how you make your cards, too. It helps me so much. I absolutely LOVED Magnum PI and never missed an episode if I could help it. I hope one day I have time to just watch a whole back-to-back marathon of Magnum.
