Bad Hair Day

Hello Happy Stampers! My project today is a little odd. My daughter needed some bobby pins to hold stray hair back during work, so I decided to have a little fun altering a tin (to hold the pins and some of her hair bands and clips). I did a before and after look using Cammie's Nurse Feelgood set from Gina K Designs.

For the before look, I used a black Memento marker to ink up Nurse Feelgood, so I could leave the hair uninked. Then I stamped again on scratch paper to make a mask. With the mask in place, I used the pom pom from Melanie's new set, Sporty Accessories, to stamp the "bad hair."

I colored the image with Copic markers and used Nestabilities to cut it out. I printed out the sentiment from my computer and used my SU word window punch to cut that out. That pretty paper I used in the background was created by Emily Gionvani and is part of her newest digital paper collection for Gina K, called Bright Summer Grundge.

On the inside, I did pretty much the same thing, only this time I added ink to her hair, too.

And now I am going to bore you with some photos from when I went kayaking with my DH and stepdad last weekend. We saw a lot of wildlife and I got a few pics.

This turtle was sunning on an old snag sticking up out of the water. Usually, when you get close they plop into the water, but this guy was determined to keep his perch.

At one point my stepdad saw something tiny darting across the water. When we got closer, we saw that it was a snake. Yuk! He finally made it to the other side and stuck his head in the grass to hide from us. I guess he didn't realized we could still see the rest of him.

This was the treat of the trip. When I was younger, I rarely saw bald eagles. I think I didn't see my first until I was around 20. They are making such a comeback now, that it seems like I see one every few months.

We startled this guy and he flew off and landed way up in a tree. I was really far away and he didn't pose well, with that branch in the way, but I just had to share anyway. They are so majestic in person and the white is SO white. My poor photo just doesn't do him justice.

That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

  3. First of all, how can you be old enough to have a daughter that is of working age. You look so young in your profile picture.

Secondly, this is fantastic! I love the pom pom as hair, and then the "fixed" hair on the inside. This is very clever.

  8. Very clever idea with the tin Theresa. Your wildlife photos are stunning.

I love the tortoise. We don't even see tame ones in peoples gardens very often here in the UK let alone in the wild.
