Time For Tea

It's a dreary Monday in my neck of the woods. We desperately need the rain here, so I am glad for it. I've had my hot tea and now I am huddled inside, dreading a much needed trip to the grocery store.

I used my new MFT set, Tea for Two to play along with the SCS Try a New Technique challenge. The challenge is to make a ribbon frame. There are some fabulous instructions on creating a ribbon frame by Claire. Her samples are gorgeous.

Here are some of the details of how I made this card...

I colored in the mouse body with C1, leaving some white spots in the ears. Then I added C3 around the sides and used C1 to blend that in. I repeated that process a few times to saturate the color somewhat.

I used RV21 to add some pink to the very inside of the ears. Then I used my colorless blended to push the color out toward the gray. Added some more pink and then blended again with the colorless blender.
For the base color on the teacup, I started with E51 and covered all the yellow areas. Then I added Y21 around the outer edges and where the handle meets the cup, and blended that in with E51. Then I added Y23 and blended that in with Y21 and E51. I repeated that process until I was happy with the intensity of the color.

For the pink stripes I used RV21, RV23 and the colorless blender, and for the lavender stripes, I used V01, V12 and the colorless blender.

Punched holes in the corners of my Apricot Appeal layering cardstock, and added pieces of ribbon, with a knot tied in the middle, feeding the ends through the holes.

On the backside of the cardstock, I taped down the ends of the ribbon.

I finished it off with some black layers and a Lovely Lilac card base. I used a Martha Stewart border punch on one of the black layers.

That's it for today. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful Monday!

  1. Your frame is SO clever! The card is very cute - love your coloring, and of course, your color choices! I'm sorry your day is dreary - for once, we had a delightful day of 70+ degrees, sunshine, and pure bliss. I left work at about 4 p.m., and took some of the local kids from the Children's home to dinner, and had every car window AND sunroof open! Cute cute card - thanks for sharing!
