Sandpiper

Hello! Today the Gina K Design Team are having a blog hop featuring projects with a masculine theme. I used the sandpiper from By The Sea, to make this Father's Day card.

If you came from Sharon's blog, you're at the right place. If not make sure to head over to StampTV  where you will find a list of all those participating in today's hop, or head on over to Tina's blog to see what she's sharing with you today!

Did you know StampTV has a Facebook page? You can check it out here. While you're there, be sure to check out a fun challenge Lee is hosting, with a chance to win a free stamp set!

I stamped the sandpiper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers, starting with E15.

 Added E53.

 Added E31.

 Added N1.

Added some extra shading with E57 and E19.

I used N5 on the legs and beak.  After coloring, I heat embossed the bird with clear embossing powder.

Then I sponged Memento Summer Sky.

 Sponged Memento Bamboo Leaves.

I added a mask to the top using sticky notes and sponged Memento Danube Blue.

I removed the mask and sponged a little more Danube Blue around the top edge for the sky and then stamped the grass several times, using Bamboo Leaves ink.

I added some shadows and ripples to the water using my C3 Copic marker.

 Then added more with C5.

Stamped the sentiment directly on the background using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I layered with Pure Luxury Black Onyx and Kraft card stock, and used a Baby Boy Blue card base.

Thanks for hopping along with us. I hope your day is fantastic!

  13. Wow! This is so beautiful. I love the way you used the Copics to color the bird and I even love better the instructions on how to do it too. Doing the sky and water in a scene is sometimes difficult but you make it look so super easy. I hope I can put the technique to use in my scene work too.

  30. You always do a superb job in colouring your images. How kind of you to provide a tutorial. I don't own any copics (due to expense), but appreciate the work you go to in order to allow us to view your beautiful work. This sandpiper card should be framed.

  31. I just LOVE what you have done here. You are just one of VERY favorite blogs to look at. Can you share how you clear embossed the bird! Do you just use versamark over the bird, then clear powder. I would love to try this. Thank you for sharing. :)
