Mahalo

Here is another card I shared at the GKD release party last week. I used this photo for inspiration. All the images are from my new stamp set, Aloha.

To start, I punched a 3/4 circle from a Post-it Note and placed it as a mask for the sun. then I used Post-It Notes to mask the bottom of the cardstock, overlapping the sun a bit. I sponged Memento Cantaloupe ink around the sun.

Sponged Memento Tangelo.

Sponged just a little bit of Memento Lady Bug.

Sponged Memento Angel Pink.

Then sponged Memento Summer Sky, working from the outside edge in.

Sponged Memento Bahama Blue around the edges.

Sponged Memento Danube Blue just around the very outside edges.

I removed the sun mask and thought the sun was just a little too bright, so I used my Cantaloupe sponge dauber, without re-inking and sponged just a tiny bit.

I flipped the Post-its around to mask off the sky, then sponged Summer Sky.

Sponged Memento Bahama Blue, keeping it darker at the top.

Sponged Memento Danube Blue.

Then I tore some Post-its into a curve as a mask for the water. I sponged Memento Tuxedo Black.

I moved the mask a bit and sponged some Memento Rich Cocoa.

Removed the mask and stamped the palm tree on either side, using Memento Tuxedo Black.

Used YG03 Copic to color the palm fronds.

Used YG95 to add some shading. I also used YG03 on the foliage.

Used YG59 on the tree trunks.

I stamped the sail boat with Memento London Fog and used N5 for to add some shading to it.

Used a straight edge and drew a fine line using my Copic multiliner at the horizon line.

Added some deeper blue at the horizon line using B26.

Extended the color more using B21 and Boo, then added some waves using my white gel pen.

I layered with Pure Luxury Black Onyx and used a SU Bashful Blue cardbase.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a wonderful day!

  12. Awesome sponging. From now on, I'm referring to you as the "Sponging Queen". Where Michelle Zindorf is the queen of the brayer, you equal her with a sponge! Remarkable work. I'm going to have to try this card! Thanks too for the always perfect tutorial. Best, Curt
