Check out this stunning card, by the fabulously talented Vicki Dutcher! Vicki is one of my wonderful guest designers for this month and has really rocked Aloha. I love the wonderful sponged background and great layout of this card.
And now check out the fabulous coloring on this card. I love the combination of images and the beautiful way she framed the sentiment. Absolutely gorgeous!
I asked Vicki a fed questions so you could get to know her better...
How long have you been stamping and how did you get started?
I have been stamping for about 15 years. I started when my son was 2 so I had something to do while he slept, he went to bed about 7pm, so I had lots of time to create. I have to laugh though, looking back at my cards - not so sure you would call them anything but not so good.... but at the time I was so pleased with them. Since finding SCS and STV in the last couple of years, my stamping has improved 180! Now, 15 years from now~~ I might not think so LOL! It has been an amazing last 2 years with all the knowledge I have gained, all the fabulous cards out there! Theresa, you are a mentor! I am there with the sponging all thanks to you! - Thank you!
What are your favorite kinds of projects/techniques?
Ha maybe I should of read the questions before answering - SPONGING is my absolute favorite technique to use. It is fast, easy and you can get some killer depth on your cards. My favorite project would have to be boxes to hold cards in - I love giving sets of cards for gifts and a box/ holder makes the gift complete.
How do you overcome loss of mojo?
I CASE and to be honest, I CASE alot - I don't create I need to "see" something and than I can change it - the end result probably won't even look like the card I was looking at, but that starting point I need.
Do you enjoy challenges and, if so, what are your favorites and why?
I love challenges! That is usually what I am doing everyday. Sketches and color challenges are my favorite~ but than again, I really enjoy inspiration challenges - on those, I actually do create! Well, maybe not - I usually remake the inspiration. LOL
What are your "go to" tools?
Big daubers and recently I have been using copics - pretty awesome tools I have to say! Of course a paper cutter - me straight line....not so much.
What or who inspires you in your crafting?
Challenges start me, than I kind of gallery hop - I have been known to return many times to your gallery, Theresa (with those fabulous tutorials) and I also check out Michelle Zindorf and Markie's Mom, Faith Hofrichter. I really do try and "gather" all the different looks I see I like, but my brain just can't "hold" so I have to search cyberland for the ideas I couldn't remember - THAT is a major challenge remembering where I saw something!! I bet you all can relate to that! hee hee
Thank you, Vicki! I loved reading your responses and seeing your wonderful creations.
Now lets hop over to Vicki's blog to see some more fabulous inspiration!
