Hello! The SCS challenge today is to use ribbon in a different way that you normally would, so that's what I did. I pulled out Melanie's new set, Candles On Your Cake for this card.
I stamped both cake layers using Memento Lulu Lavender.
Then I used Copic markers to add some shading, starting with V12.
Blended that using V000.
Added a little deeper shading with V04.
I used my Grape Jelly and Cantaloupe Memento markers to ink up three candles on the small row of candles and stamped on top of the cake. Please, try not to notice that I didn't get them centered.
I used my white gel pen to add some swirly "icing" to the cake and cut out the image.
For the background, I stamped the lace, from Vintage Backgrounds, using Versa Mark ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I sponged some Memento Lulu Lavender ink.
On the next layer, I sponged Lulu Lavender, then used my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder to emboss.
Sponged lightly with Memento Grape Jelly, to highlight the dots a bit.
I used thread to gather the ends of the ribbon, then added the buttons. The thread was white, so I used a Copic marker to color the sections that I used to tie on the buttons.
I like to use Scor-Tape to adhere ribbon. It holds ribbon so much better than regular tape.
Crystal Lacquer was added to the cake and I used a sentiment from Sending Sunshine. I layered with Pure Luxury White and used a Lovely Lavender cardbase.
Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a happy Friday!
