Hello! This month Gina challenge the GKD design team to make a project inspired by a favorite summer memory. You can play along, too, for a chance at a guest spot on the design team!
On my card, I thought back to when my daughter was about two and loved to chase butterflies. Some of my most cherished memories are watching her a that age, when she was outdoors and had that innocent exuberance that only toddlers have. I used the butterfly images from my new set,
Hope Grows to create a fanciful butterfly scene to reflect the magic those memories hold for me.
For all the specific details on how to enter your card in Gina's Design Team challenge, please visit
GinaK's blog. Then, stop by these participating GinaK Design Team member's blogs for their projects for tonight's hop:

To make the background for my card, I started by stamping the branch images, from
Hope Grows, with Versa Mark and heat embossing with clear embossing powder.

Next, I sponged with Memento Cantaloupe ink.

Sponged Memento Angel Pink.

Sponged Memento Rose Bud.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCKVX2qaVwz5x2A3Ny3ZkOSrlrfKLOAdaJcE4cGy8ojEZacQbgbT2q6Pmpl4B5uXdaltQwerLqVT8KnQzeNsnUpuWfPwUClCdgTCvB6_satlZfKCVvQ8RBLC3qJtxvgkbiSng0KP-D3PBK/s280/T5.jpg)
Sponged Memento Tangelo.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMpD5u7nM-K9MvS6Dv8bkzQNqSQIyfPD9cI41aHExtvHj0tIhaRvlJIz92fpQEP90BPBP1OAjUlZkxOWlQJ__p84nbSDOh_EVLa5VJaHxxlEQVAKgt8TYbrc2Q6K7jyN-Xzp44BV1o_GtV/s280/T6.jpg)
Sponged Memento Rhubarb Stalk.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlbCIlehPmTyc3Qkaiir8IKxX8ou_7ifcGG8eNT77zwl6NkQL03QZFlPJxmYyUuBP9_OZKtIrjnrkbrAiPCaXJLhlTIsofDW5wnhc95lvoayGMPRPRTG9wj1t7ggKosp4QHjqaUqp3QlAt/s280/T7.jpg)
Then I stamped the branches again, this time with Tangelo, but stamped off on scratch paper first, so they wouldn't be too dark.

Next I added some dots and stars with my white gel pen.

For the butterflies, I started with Copic RV29 in the center.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIY36H2TKd-HrNhiwHYWyvW-Cl8cQAaxRm1s5_3bd-IXQldPOhw7_qygJFKt-tE_jBf0V44Mnq9OXIiA32PGfuCCEXRUF3f5k-WBqRChP3VlUHrltEfwmtb-nzVtTw5hadva32pc5NcPXb/s280/T10.jpg)
Blended from there with RV25.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqrm1n319HZ93mizpHrXATCIreUYkgAVfUbTchdQqvo7pOHMvt6Vq_Ty9YZ00g7VeQ61BLfb6CZM2uUBOH_rKTa7lp6q0hpVl1eV9dch5rm1KkQ7KinLmQiIY1mg1dN02G7OynnMkOHJs6/s280/T11.jpg)
Then added RV21 and used my blender pen to soften the highlights.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCgJhIKMVsbE81cjjF81CGrEp3CMIx6-yBO7g3_INLhHBW6Ojj3YgHQhA7Oaz_NltH9OknQv0T4bhjV3Ky0hA4oci9BUXGL6vRgxNJ1TrWbpnD2pONhKD2GQHfUAwJnIyQcB6mZBqo14mu/s280/T12.jpg)
I cut out the butterflies, minus the antennae, then stamped them on the background, so their antennae would show after adhering.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi21CoZvcHWJN2DI8E7cIyhb7XRTiVfsg8_l5JLgQSrb7uoEVv7LxMK3QjS0ZVv7zN1mycX_n_DUg1e4zlqbVK6onjJKWa2za6zHvkFaNp74CAg9YUq28IlkM0c_stFJynJdpCuTsNOqtaC/s280/T13.jpg)
I wanted to use the
Spellbinders Fancy Tag die for my sentiment, but the sentiment is a little small for that die. So I cut out the tag, from Pure Luxury Passionate Pink, then I cut it in half and trimmed away a bit from the center.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1ysjxo-P13ynqxx7lFqyTEbtoPWMBruujlfwiwyytRacT_OIXMYJkpE2e8a3M-VnWSyvB7d5ZPbZUXw5pFwDchwRFndLuAboTcU0bLlZFgVqVTt7mVrfd36HTy6ZHF5OptaRxzeC8qiay/s280/T14.jpg)
I stamped the sentiment and used Oval Nestabilities to cut it out, then backed it with a scalloped oval layer. You can see how well it looks over the fancy tag, when the two pieces are fitted back together, with a little altering.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbfqt_4T7jQnFuw5hE74rWNw2A9MLWixX8UvpMK6t9Uu0HtFn4caq3DpEeqMWpTGeGPLpqAiO0Kf4MwMS8kzpsw7smMWMbbBeqxJ55jIOkVw3p7HgzwvIdJcmr32ZCxqjaowCD3yXO1jXX/s280/T15.jpg)
I played around with some different angles for the flourishes and decided I liked this better for the layout of my card.

I adhered the sentiment with
Pop Dots and layered with Pure Luxury Black Onyx and Passionate Pink. The card base is Innocent Pink.
