Field of Irises

Hello! Today I have a card I made using the iris stamp from Elegant Flowers (Gina K Designs).

I stamped the image twice, to make a larger grouping of flowers, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Used a Copic marker, Y17 for the centers of the flowers.

For the rest of the coloring, I just colored one flower at a time so I could work fast enough to blend my colors. I used V12 to fill in the petals, almost all the way, but left a bit of white space

Used V04 working in from the outer edges, but not quite as far as with the last color.

Added V06, but just around the very outside edges, then used my blender pen to soften the trasition.

Here is a view after I colored all the flowers.

I went over the stems and leaves with YG05.

Then added YG95 for some shading.

Used my Versa Mark pen over the entire stamped images, for my embossing powder to adhere to, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Sponged with a bit of So Saffron ink.

Sponged a little Blush Blossom.

Sponged Perfect Plum.

Sponged Pretty in Pink to transition from the purple to blush.

To assemble the card, I layered with Pure Luxury Black Onyx, SU Blush Blossom and used an Orchid card base. I added a die cut from my Vintage CB dies (thanks again, Emily. I'm loving it!) and some black brads. The sentiment is also from Elegant Flowers.

Thanks for the visit. Have a wonderful day!!!

  12. Just beautiful! Have you ever thought of doing the same picture but in different colors. I saw a garden of Iris
recently and was amazed at how many colors they come in. I am not even half the artist you are which is why I would love to see this done in the yellows and oranges.

  13. How beautiful! I just discovered your wonderful art. Love the iris cards, but hard too choose when all are wonderful. Question: How do you heat emboss after you color? Do you re-stamp the images and hope to get the stamp imprint where it should be??? Must be a trick to it.
