Just beautiful! Have you ever thought of doing the same picture but in different colors. I saw a garden of Iris recently and was amazed at how many colors they come in. I am not even half the artist you are which is why I would love to see this done in the yellows and oranges. So I pulled out the iris stamp from Elegant Flowers again and colored the irises in oranges and yellows, with just a touch of purple thrown in because I love those two tone irises. Thanks, Charlene, for the suggestion.
Warning- There are a gazillion photos in this post! Details below...
First I started by stamping the iris image three times, using Memento black ink. I left a little space between the images, so I could come back in later and stamp again. I also tilted the images on the side just a bit.
I colored the two tone purple/orange iris first, starting with Copic marker, YR07 in the centers of the petals.
Then I added YR04 around the previous color, on the top petals only.
Followed by YR12 to fill the top petals.
Then I went back with YR07 to outline the petals.
On the bottom petals, I added Y17 around the YR07.
Then filled the rest of the area on the petals with V04, followed by my blender pen to lighten some of the purple area.
Used R24 to outline the bottom petals.
For the yellow iris, I started with Y17 in the centers.
Followed by Y23 around the Y17.
Then filled in with Y21.
I used Y17 to outline the petals and my blender pen to add some highlights.
For the orange iris, I again started with Y17 in the centers of the petals.
Then added YR02 around the yellow.
I used YR14 to outline the petals and my blender pen to add highlights to the petals.
I did the leaves and stems the same way as the other day, starting with YG05.
Then added some shading with YG95.
Next, I used my Versa Mark pen to color over all the images, so that my embossing powder would stick. Then I heat embossed with clear.
I stamped the image two more times, once between the center and right images. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to get the positioning just right so that my irises would be at staggered heights. and once on the very left, up high and at an angle, so that only one iris showed. The second time I stamped all the way on the left, up higher and at an angle.
After stamping, I colored the additional images and again heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
Next I sponged my background, starting with just a bit of Blush Blossom (SU) in the center.
Then sponged Pretty In Pink.
Sponged Regal Rose.
Sponged over the Regal Rose with Apricot Appeal to warm it up a bit.
Sponged Ruby Red.
And finally sponged a bit of Bravo Burgundy.
All I did to finish it off was add some brads and layer with black and a Blush Blossom cardbase. I may add a sentiment later to the top somewhere, since it is looking a little plain, but I'll wait and see what occasion I want to see it for.
Thank you so much for visiting. I'll be back first thing Monday morning with another Timeless Treasures project from Cathy Edgar, and then Tuesday (or Monday night if you are up that late) the previews for the next Gina K release start.

Bonne journée,
I just love this with the assorted colors. I actually had a patch of the rust and purple one for years but they have died out. Maybe I need to get a catalog and redo that bed. Thanks for sharing your talent with us!
