Out West - Gina K Designs Preview Day 2

Have you heard the news? I'm a stamp illustrator!!! This secret has been so hard to hold onto, but the day has finally arrived and I can shout it out. LOL. I owe it to Gina K for taking a chance on me and I am so very grateful. Thank you, Gina, more than words can say!

The card above uses two images from my new set (can't believe I just said that!), called Out West. The set is full of western/horse themed images and sentiments, perfect for masculine cards, scrapbook pages or for anyone that loves horses.

If you would like to see more sneak peeks of Out West hop on over to visit the design team and be sure to start at Gina's blog for a chance to win a set!

I would also like to say a big thank you to Cathy Tidwell (aka Catdidit on SCS), for helping me as my guest designer for this month. Cathy will be sharing some fabulous creations all month using my set, so hop on over to her blog to see the magic she has whipped up for you. Be sure to keep checking back, to find out how you can win a free Out West stamp set on Cathy's blog next week!

Another shout out, this time to Melanie Muenchinger for her encouragement and inspiration. I wanna be just like Mel! BTW, Jen Del Muro has been playing along and has a preview with Mel's set Wee Tee's today too!

Asela Hopkins is previewing her new set tonight, also. It is called Friendship's Garden, and if you loved Botanical Dreams (my all time favorite Asela set), then you are going to flip when you see the images in Friendship's Garden. Be sure to visit the team to see what they have created with this set...

And now here are the details on how I made my card...

Stamped the images on Pure Luxury White cardstock, using Memento ink. Then I color the horse with Copic markers, E31, E37, E57 and my colorless blender.

Next I colored the cactus with YG03, YG91, YG93 and YG95.

I used YG91, Y23, W3 and E35 on the grasses and ground.

Because I wanted to sponge the background, I needed to emboss my images with clear embossing powder. First I rubbed the entire paper with my embossing buddy, then I went over the images with my Versa Mark pen and heat embossed with clear EP powder.

After embossing I sponged some So Saffron ink.

Next I worked on the foreground. I masked off the bottom of the cardstock and sponged Apricot Appeal.

More sponging, this time with Creamy Caramel and Chocolate Chip.

Then I put the mask on the bottom, so I could work on the sky. I sponged around the the So Saffron with Really Rust and just a bit of Pumpkin Pie.

Then I added some Bashfull Blue.

And some Not Quite Navy.

Next, I added some tree by inking up an image from Tree Silhouettes, with Saharra Sand and stamping in two places.

The "Dad" stamp is from Rupa Shevde's newest set, being released on Thursday. I stamped it and then cut it using the small oval punch from Stampin' Up. The metal frame and brads are from SU's hodgepodge hardware. On the right side, I added twine and a piece of Nautical Netting, a new product from Gina K availble Thursday night. I attached them with a Making Memories brad.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day! Come back tomorrow for another preview and be sure to join us at SCS Thursday, from 5 to 7pm central, for the release party!
