Halloween Scene Card Tutorial

Hello! Can you believe summer is nearly over? I just got home from the most amazing time at the Spellbinders® Design Team Retreat and all of a sudden Halloween and fall cards are popping up everywhere. So I pulled out Fanciful Fall to make this card.

Here is a look at the Spellbinders Papercrafting Design Team for 2013, which I am so lucky to be a part of. We had four wonderful days in Phoenix, filled with fun, inspiration and loads of crafting goodies. I am so grateful to Stacey Caron and everyone at Spellbinders for all their hard work in putting together the retreat, their generosity and their confidence in me. It was such an honor to meet my fellow teammates, along with designers from all the Spellbinders teams (I'm still feeling a little star struck). In the photo are my teammates: Beck Beatie, Marielle LeBlanc, Yvonne van de Grijp, Janice Whiting, Christine Emberson, Chris Gualazzi, Teresa Horner and AJ Otter (our DT coordinator).

And now on to the details of my card. I began by stamping the smaller pumpkin, from Fanciful Fall, on white cardstock, with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then I started my coloring with a YR18 Copic marker.

Added YR07.

Added YR14.

Then I filled in with Y17, using the blender pen to push some highlight back in.

For the stem, I used YG25.

Then added a bit of shading with YG95. After coloring, I cut out the image.

Next, I used Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A to cut and emboss Pure Luxury Ivory cardstock, then sponged Memento Cantaloupe ink in the middle.

Sponged Memento New Sprout around the top and dow the sides.

Then sponged Memento Pear Tart.

At the bottom I sponged Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Then I sponged very lightly with Memento Danube Blue just to soften the transition between the black and green/yellow.

The tree, from Fanciful Fall, was stamped with Stazon Jet Black ink.

I trimmed Pure Luxury Fresh Asparagus cardstock to 4 ¼ by 11 inches and scored in the middle to form a 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inch top fold card base. Before folding, I embossed a frame on the front by placing a larger die template, from A2 Matting Basics A on the inside of the card base, then I embossed it.

I layered the tree with Pure Luxury Black Onyx, then adhered the layers, and pumpkin using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Squares. I used an opaque white gel pen to add some highlights to the leaves on the tree. The sentiment is stamped on white cardstock and cut out, then also adhered with 3D Foam Squares.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!
