Country Bridge Colored Pencil Tutorial

Happy Friday! Today I have a single layer card done with colored pencils. I haven't pulled out my Koh-i-noor pencils in at least a few years and I thought it was about time. I also did a bit of a different technique which I'll call partial stenciling.

To begin, I cut my Pure Luxury Ivory card stock to form a 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inch top fold card. I went ahead and scored the fold line, using my Scor-Buddy, but didn't actually fold the card base because I find it easier to work with the card stock while it will still lie flat. Having the score line in place though, helps me know where I want to place the image. Next, I stamped the old bridge, from Country Roads, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Then I began coloring, starting with a reddish brown pencil (Koh-i-noor color #22).

 On the inside of the bridge, I started with a medium brown (Koh-i-noor #11)

Then added a darker brown  (Koh-i-noor #23)

On the deciduous tree and grass, I started with a yellow/green (Koh-i-noor #19)

Then added a medium green (Koh-i-noor #4).

I added a bit of blue/green to the evergreen trees (Koh-i-noor #5).

Next I used black on the roof and on the rocks (Koh-i-noor #12).

Then I filled in the rocks and the road with a grey (Koh-i-noor #24).

 Then finished colored with a medium blue for the water. (Koh-i-noor #18)

Next, I used Spellbinders™A2 Matting Basics A to cut some scratch paper and removed the center. leaving the die template in the opening, held with low tack tape. I positioned the scratch paper/die template over the image, then did some partial stenciling by sponging Memento Desert Sand ink on the upper left and lower right corners only.

Then sponged lightly with Memento Rich Cocoa in the same corners.

I removed the die template and stamped the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

To finish, I added some decorative score lines to the same two corners, using my Scor-Buddy.
