Brown Butterfly Tutorial
Hello there! I colored this brown bird, from Birds and Blossoms, the other day. Then I saw the gorgeous one Melanie colored on her blog and was feeling a little intimidated about posting mine. But the poor blog has been a little neglected, so here it is.
The bird on a post image was stamped on Pure Luxury card stock, using Memento Espresso Truffle ink.
I began coloring with my E59 Copic marker.
Added E57.
Added E35.
Then used my blender pen to let some color bleed into the highlighted area. On the belly, beak and legs, I used E53.
For the post, I started with W5.
Then filled in with W1.
I used YR14 on the petals of the flower, and YG93 on the stems.
Added Y21 to the petals, then used a get pen to add a highlight to the bird's eyes.
Using Spellbinders™ Oval Nestabilities, I cut out and embossed the image. Then, while still in the die template, I sponged lightly with Gina K Honey Mustard Ink.
I used Spellbinders new 3D Basket Weave M-Bossibilities folder to embossed Gina K Pure Luxury Honey Mustard card stock. I layered with Pure Luxury Dark Chocolate and used an Ivory card base (4 ¼ by 5 ½ inches). The sentiment was stamped on Pure Luxury Sandy Beach and the buttons are from Gina's new Color Companions collection.
Thanks for dropping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Mix and Match Blog Hop & Tutorial
Hello! The Gina K Designs illustrators are hopping today to share some fun ways to combine the new release stamp sets. Hope you will join us as we Mix and Match! I combined my new set, Birds and Blossoms, with Tami Mayberry's new Simple Hearts set. They are totally different styles, but I love the pairing of the nature images with the graphic background I made using Simple Hearts.

I stamped the bird on a post image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I didn't worry about getting the complete image stamped because I only intended to use the bird on my card. I challenged myself to only use three Copic markers to color the bird this time. I started with B24.
Then I went over the blue areas with my blender pen, letting the blue bleed into the white areas.
I added YR65 to the belly.
Then used my blender pen to push in some highlights.
I used B24 again, to deepen the shading.
Then just a bit more shading with C3. After coloring, I cut out the bird.
Next I cut and embossed Pure Luxury White card stock, using Spellbinders new A2 Curved Matting Basics B, then sponged Gina K Powder Blue ink.
Sponged very lightly with Memento Tuxedo Black just along the bottom.
Stamped one of the silhouette branches with Memento Tuxedo Black.
Then stamped the second branch.
I stamped the branch a few more times, this time using Gina K Powder Blue, to create some background foliage.
My card base is Pure Luxury Powder Blue. I scored my fold line with my Scor-Buddy, then masked off one side using sticky notes. Then I stamped the circles, from Simple Hearts, using Gina K Powder Blue and Ocean Mist inks.
For the sentiment layer, I cut a circle with Spellbinders Classic Circles SM, then sponged Gina K Powder Blue ink around the edges. After removing from the die template, I stamped the sentiment.
I layered with a piece of Pure Luxury Black Onyx, adhered the bird and sentiment layers, then added a few Color Companions buttons to accent.
Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a fabulous day!

A Bug and a Cone
Hey there! Here are two more cards I shared at the Gina K Designs release party. This first one features images from Beth Silaika's new Lovely Ladybug stamp set. Love these cute bugs! They are so easy and fun to create!
Next I made a card using Melanie Muenchinger's latest, Stately Flowers 6. I so love this pine cone. I stamped it on white card stock and cut out the cone only, then stamped the image on my Kraft card base. Then I used more Copics to color over the pine needles. I added some score lines to the bottom with my Scor-Buddy to border a piece of Washi tape (Thanks for the tape, Michelle. I love it!). The three buttons are from Gina's new Color Companions buttons.
Thanks for visiting. Have a great day!

Gina K Inspiration Day 2
Hello! It's the second day of inspiration from Gina K Designs for our January release. Today we have three new stamp sets to feature. First up is a set I illustrated called Birds and Blossoms. I also used some of the new Love Letters designer paper on this card. I'll share more details below.
Next we have Simple Hearts, by Tami Mayberry. This is such a great set and can be used well past Valentine's Day, for birthdays, anniversaries and more! I used more of the Gina K Color Companions ribbons and buttons on this card.
And Becky Oehlers has created a super cut new set called Spoon Me! These images are adorable. I love the bowling pin and sentiment. So fun! Those buttons are also from Gina K's Color Companions.

I started by sponging Memento Desert Sand ink on Pure Luxury White card stock.
Sponged Memento Toffee Crunch.
Sponged Memento Rich Cocoa.
Stamped the branches from Birds and Blossoms with Rich Cocoa.
Next I stamped the butterfly with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and began coloring with E97 near the body. Then I added E31 on the outer part of the wings.
Added more color near the body with YR14.
Then coloring in the body with W5. After coloring, I cut out the image.
I stamped the butterfly on my background so I wouldn't have to cut around the antennae, then adhered the cut out butterfly over the newly stamped one. I layered with Love Letters pattern paper and Pure Luxury Dark Chocolate card stock. The card base is also Dark Chocolate and 4 ¼ by 4 ¼ inches.
