To begin, I cut a pice of Pure Luxury card stock using a die template from the new Spellbinders Card Creator series, A2 Matting Basics B, then sponged with Memento Cantaloupe ink. The new Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® Card Creator Die Templates are amazing. They are sized to perfectly fit A2 sized cards for easy layering and perfect proportions.
Next, I sponged Memento New Sprout.
Sponged Memento Bamboo Leaves.
I wanted some sun rays peeking through the jungle leaves, so I used sticky notes to expose a thin "V" and sponged very lightly with Bamboo Leaves again.
I repeated that process, creating several rays, until I got to the corner, where I just used one sticky note to expose the whole corner, then sponged again.
Here is how it looked after removing the sticky notes.
I stamped the split leaves using Memento Espresso Truffle. I removed the background from the die template and used sticky notes to mask the edges. The thickness of the metal dies can cause the image not to stamp right up to the edge, so I like to switch to sticky notes for this step.
I also stamped the palm frond a few times, using Memento Bamboo Leaves, but stamped off on scratch paper first to make the image lighter.
I used Copic markers to color, starting with YG97.
Added YG95.
Then filled in with YG91. I had planned to make my card as a landscape, but you can see from the finished photo that I wound up rotating the background onto it's side.
Next, I stamped the tiki head with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics, starting with W5.
Added W1.
Then added E31. After coloring, I cut out the image.
Using another Matting Basics die template, I cut a piece of Pure Luxury Sandy Beach card stock and sponged around the edges with Memento Cantaloupe ink, while still in the die template.
I stamped one of the silhouette split leaves, in a random pattern, using Memento New Sprout ink.
Stamped the sentiment with Memento Espresso Truffle ink. Then, using another of the Matting Basics die templates, I used it as a guide to draw a frame around the edge, using a Memento Tuxdedo Black marker.
I added an additional layer of Pure Luxury Fresh Asparagus and Tan Leather card base (4 ¼ by 5 ½ inches). The three little flourish shapes peeking out are cut using a new Julianna Hudgins set for Spellbinders, called Jewel Flowers and Flourishes.
I just love the perfect layering you can get with Spellbinders Card Creator die templates! I know a lot of stampers don't like measuring and cutting with paper trimmers and these new dies are going to be the perfect new tool to nearly eliminate the need to use a paper trimmer. Here is a link to all the new Card Creator die sets and here is a link to a fantastic video showing you how to use the Card Creator line.
Thanks for stopping by. I'll be back Monday with a peek at my next stamp set coming from Gina K Designs. Have a great weekend!
