Peaceful Savannah

Hello and happy Monday to you! My card today is for my friend Karen Knegten who is still recoverving from brain surgery. She has a long road ahead of her and I wanted to make her a tranquil, relaxing card to help boost her spirits.  I hope she likes it.

I'm submitting this to the Craft A Scene Challenge Blog. Their challenge this month is to use silhouette images in your scene.
I cut Pure Luxury White card stock to 2 3/4 by 5 1/2 inches and sponged a narrow band of Memento Cantaloupe ink across the middle using a small sponge dauber.

Sponged just a small bit of Memento Tangelo below the yellow on the right side.

Then I sponged Memento Angel Pink all around, using Jumbo Sponge Daubers.

Sponged Memento Rose Bud ink.

Back to a small sponge dauber to sponge some Memento Summer Sky. The combination of the light blue, with the pink I had already sponged made it look like lavender.

I used sticky notes to mask the sky and then sponged Memento Dessert Sand at the horizon line.

Then, from the bottom, I sponged Memento Rich Cocoa.

Then I used torn sticky notes to mask the sky again, to form small mountains in the distance. I used straight sticky notes to mask the bottom of the mountains. I sponged Memento Rich Cocoa.

Here are the mountains after I removed the sticky notes.

I used my E33 and W3 Copic markers to add shadows below the mountains.

Stamped the tree, from Wild About You, with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I stamped it a second time without re-inking to make a more distant appearing tree.

Stamped the two silhouette giraffes using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Stamped the tiny grass clump, several times with Memento Rich Cocoa.

Then stamped the larger grass at the bottom corners using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I used W5 to add shadows to the trees and giraffes.

I layered with Pure Luxury Chocolate Brown and Passionate Pink. The card base is 5 1/2 by 4 1/4 inches and also is Chocolate Brown.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a wonderful day!

  5. Wow, this is really inspiring! I was thinking about doing something similar with a brayer, but all of my color with my brayer was turning out splotchy. This is a much better technique with the dauber. I will have to try it! Thank so much for the inspiration!
