You probably didn't know I was gone on vacation last week, since I scheduled posts for while I was away. I meant to get a card made for the new sketch challenge at StampTV today, but I ran out of time and we ran into delays getting home over the weekend, so I'll share a few vacation pictures instead.
Mike and I went to the Riviera Maya on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico last week. We had such a great time. It was the first time we have gone to Mexico and there was so much to see and do. We also stayed at an all inclusive resort and that was a first (but not a last) as well. Boy they really spoil you in those resorts.
The photo above is one of the Mayan ruins at Tulum. The ruins here are not as famous as the ones a Chitzen Itza, which we plan to see on our next visit, but there really was a ton to see here and definitely worth the visit.
We went zip-lining over this cenote lagoon and then took a canoe ride back.
It was so pretty looking into the jungle from the canoe.
We went to another cenote at Dos Ojos and did some snorkeling in the caves there. Here we are putting on our snorkel gear.
It was so stunning in there with the stalactites and stalagmites.
Our guide dove down and snapped this photo looking up at me.
Our guide to us to see the cutest spider monkey, called Chato. He was so sweet and put his arm around me while I fed him. Of course, once I ran out of food he really had no further interest in me. LOL
There was also a super adorable baby spider monkey. I fed him, too. Any time I stood still, he would plop himself down on my food and recline against my leg. I could have stayed there all day.
We did some snorkeling at Akumal and saw a bunch of sea turtles, among many other wonderful critters and fish.
The photo of this eagle ray just doesn't do it justice. He was over eight feet across and that tail must have been nearly twenty feet. It was so graceful flying through the water and so enormous.
There were iguanas everywhere, especially at the ruins. Eventually, we got used to them and stopped marveling every few feet.
Lunch at a local restaurant called, Oscar and Lalos. Those are the most amazing mango margaritas ever. The rim the glass with salt and chili powder. Yum!
Here is a sunrise photo taken from the balcony of our room. Yep, I'm ready to go back. Thanks for letting me share. I'll be back with something crafty soon. Have a great day!
Looks like you had a great trip...we were there at the beginnning of February for our 4th time....Love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful trip you had! Looks like so much fun! I've never been diving - you are so brave! I would love the zip line, but the iguana's not so much! Girl, the scenery is so gorgeous, and I had to enlarge each photo to see the clarity of the water better! Thanks so much for sharing! I feel like I had a vacation! Hugs...!
