Christmas Box Revisited

Hiya! Hope you all had a great weekend. I promised to post tutorials on some of the projects I shared during last week's blog hops, so bear with me if you've already seen this one.  The original post for this is here. I used an image from Lord of the Season, from Gina K.

I made the box by starting with a piece of Pure Luxury Fresh Asparagus cardstock, cut to 11 by 5.5 inches.  Using my Scor-pal, I scored on the vertical at 1 inch and 4.5 inches.

Rotating the cardstock, I scored at 3.5,  5,  8.5 and 10 inches.

Creased by folds and using my scissors, made the cuts for the bottom tabs on both sides.

To assemble, I folded the tabs up and added Scor-tape to the outside of both tabs. I also added Scor-tape to the inside of the two front flaps.

Removed the tape backing and adhered the back flaps to the tabs.

Then I removed the backing from the tape on the front flaps and adhered those to the back flaps. That is the basic box design. You can tuck the top into the box to close, or use magnets or Velcro. On mine, I tucked it behind the background layer.

The finished size is 3.5 X 3.5 X 1.5 inches.

To decorate my box, I stamped the Christmas topiary from Lord of the Season and colored with Copics, starting with G03.

Added G09 for shading.

Then added G28 for deeper shading.

For the cardinal, I started with R89,

Added R27.

Filled in with R22.

Used Y17 on the star, E59 on the trunk and started with E39 on the pot.

Added E35 to the pot.

Filled in with E51.

I added some deeper shading to the pot with E59. I colored the bulbs with R27 and then cut out the image.

Cut an oval from Pure Luxury Ivory cardstock, using my petite oval Nestabilities and sponged Memento Desert Sand while it was still in the die.

Sponged a little Memento Rich Cocoa.

I layered the oval with Pure Luxury Cranberry Tart, cut with petite oval Nestabilities. The background layer is another piece of Ivory, sponged with Desert Sand and embossed with my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. I used twine and a PL button to embellish, also layered with Cranberry Tart. I used Pop Dots to adhere the panels to the box and left the top with no adhesive so I could tuck the top flap behind that layer. I also rounded the corners oin that top flap.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm headed off to my stamp room. I have a project to make for a special guest spot this weekend and I just saw my super talented friend Vicki is Featured Stamper at SCS. Gotta make something for that!!! Have a great day!
