Surf's Up!

Hi there. I'm finally getting around to posting the step by step photos for this card I shared last week. I used a new set from Gina K Designs, called Beach Bum.

I started by coloring the surf board with Copics. I filled in the top with Y21.

Blended from the top down with Y17.

Blended from the top with YR07.

Filled in the bottom section with R29 and then used my blender pen to push in some highlights.

For my background, I placed a Post-it Note to mask the top, then sponged the water, starting with Memento Cantaloupe.

Sponged Memento Tangelo.

Sponged Memento Lady Bug.

I moved the Post-it Note to cover the bottom and sponged the sky, starting with Memento Cantaloupe. I sponged in from the sides, keeping it lighter in the center, top and bottom.

Sponged Memento Angel Pink above and below the Cantaloupe.

Sponged Memento Rose Bud at the sky line.

Here I sponged some Memento Rhubarb Stalk and added a nice finger print right in the middle of the sky and a few lighter ones off to the side. Seems like I've done something like this before. At least I like a good challenge.

I sponged some Paris Dusk at the top and sides and managed to hide the lighter finger prints.

I decided to add some clouds using Copics, in an attempt to hide the finger print, but V04 and C3 weren't dark enough.

BV13 seemed to do the trick and I used BV11 and C1 to blend. I was careful not to scrub into the paper too hard when blending, since the card stock was still damp from sponging.

I used R89 to darken the sky line more and C1 to blend it out.

Removed the mask and added some ripples with R24 and YR02.

I tore some pieces of Pure Luxury Ivory card stock and sponged with Memento Desert Sand. Then I used the sand stamp from Melanie's Gifts From The Sea and stamped some texture with Desert Sand.

I cut out the surf board and covered it with Cystal Lacquer. After drying, I layered it between the two sand layers.

I layered with Pure Luxury Black Onyx and Vibrant Purple, and used a Sweet Mango card base.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great day!
