Hello! This is my first time participating in the Teapot Tuesday Challenge at SCS. It's a fun bunch of stampers that participate in that challenge each week and I've been intending to play along for some time now.
The challenge this week is called This Ain't No Picnic and here is the inspiration piece that our card was to be inspired by. I loved this teapot as soon as I saw it. I don't have any bear silhouette stamps, so I used the deer from Life is Good.
I started by sponging some Memento Cantaloupe ink on the top of my cardstock (Pure Luxury Ivory).
Sponged Memento Desert Sand on the bottom, bringing it up to blend smoothly into the Cantaloupe.
Sponged Memento Rich Cocoa on the very bottom and also just a tiny bit right along the edges all the way around.
I didn't want to use the reflection portion of the tree lined bank from Life is Good, so I used a post-it note to cover that part up before inking with Rich Cocoa.
Stamped the trees, re-inked and stamped again, then stamped a third time without re-inking for a ghost image background.
To get the splatter effect, I put a drop of ink from my Rich Cocoa re-inker on a piece of plastic. Then I dipped a stiff paint brush in it. I used my piercing tool as a hard edge to run the brush across to create the splatters. Anything with an edge like that will do, something like a palette knife, a kitchen knife, or even a stiff piece of plastic. I definitely recommend practicing to get the splatter effect you are looking for before you actually splatter on your card. (confession time - I actually assembled my card and took pictures before splattering, in case it didn't turn out)
I layered with Pure Luxury Black Onyx and Sweet Corn. For my card base, I used a piece of SU Creamy Caramel and stamped a pine cone from Winter Foliage with Desert Sand ink in a random pattern.
Be sure to stop by Gina K's blog today. She has posted the first previews for our new release. You can get a look at new cardstock colors, a new button assortment and ribbon assortments and a chance to win a great prize! Then tomorrow night (Sunday night 10pm Central) the stamp set previews begin. Yay!
Thanks for coming by. I hope your day is warm and happy!
