Birthday Kitty

Hello stampers! Here is one more card I made for the GKD release party last week. I used the cute frisky kitty from Purrr-fectly Delightful for this one.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then colored with Copics, starting with E33.

I filled in most areas with E53, leaving just a few highlights on the ears and face.

Blended in with YR000

Added N3 in the shadows.

Added N5 to the deeper shadows.

Added N7 to the deepest shadows.

Used W1 and W3 for the mouse.

Next, I cut masks of the mouse and kitty using post-it notes and placed them on the images I had just colored. Then I sponged Memento New Sprout.

Sponged Memento Summer Sky from the top until it met the green.

Sponged Memento Bamboo Leaves, making it splotchy to look like clumps of grass.

Sponged Memento Danube Blue around the edges of the top.

I inked up the cattails from Life is Good, leaving the tops un-inked, with Memento New Sprout.

I removed the masks and added some shadows under the kitty and mouse using C1, C3 and E31.

I stamped the butterflies a few times using Memento Summer Sky ink. The sentiment is from Picture It!, one of the new StampTV Kit stamp sets. I cut it out using oval Nestabilities. I layered wtih Pure Luxury White, Black Onyx and used a Fresh Asparagus cardbase.

Thanks for visiting. Tomorrow I'll be showing you my first project using my Copic Airbrush. Have a great day!

  4. Wow - wonderful playful card. What a lot of work you put into the colouring. I never would have thought of masking the cat and mouse before doing the background. I'd just be keeping my fingers crossed. Beautiful work!!!
