Blue Sunrise

Good morning! My DH needed a sympathy card for a friend at work, so this is what I came up with. I followed the sketch from the sketch challenge at SCS today. I used the iris stamp from Elegant Flowers and sentiments from Many Wishes.

Here are the details...

I stamped the image on Pure Luxury White cardstock, using Memento ink. I colored with Copics, starting with G21, YG03 and G03 on the foliage.

I used a bit of B26 in the deepest areas of the flowers.

Blended out just a bit from those areas with B24, and then added a fin line around the outer edges of the petals.

Blended out from there with B41, leaving some areas white. Then I went back to sharpen the lines around the edges with B24 again.

I embossed the image with clear embossing powder bedfore sponging. First I rubbed my embossing buddy over the paper to prevent static. Then I used my Versa Mark pen to go over the image completely. Then heat embossed with clear powder.

After embossing, I sponged a small amount of So Saffron ink in the center.

Then, working from the outside edges, I sponged Bashful Blue, working my way in until I met up with the yellow.

Next I sponged Ballet Blue, working in, but not as far. I didn't get a photo of the last sponging step, but I added a bit of Lavender Lace, just around the edges.

I created a second, larger panel, by sponging in the same way and layered both panels with Pure Luxury Black Onyx paper. The horizontal panel is from a digital paper pack called Jersey Shore. You can find it for free at StampTV here.

I totally messed up stamping my sentiment on the front, so I had to use my SU Word Window punch to cover it up. I have to do that all the time. It's part of the reason you don't see me use sentiments a lot. Usually I manage to stamp them straight, but just don't get a complet image. When that happens, I fix it with a black marker. This time it was an incomplete impression and crooked. Nothing to do but cover it up.

I finished the inside of the card by stamping the irises with Bashful Blue and then placing the sentiment over it.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope your day filled with happiness!
