Evening Snack and Guest Designer, Deb Neerman

Before I tell you about my card today, I want to take a moment to introduce Deb Neerman, my guest designer for my Happy Camper set. Deb has been a long time blogging friend of mine and an early supporter. She's been stamping on and off since she was 8 years old! Isn't that cool?

I love Deb's style. She makes clean, quick cards, frequently mixing in a vintage flair. I know you'll love the projects she makes with Happy Camper, so hop on over to see what she has in store for use today! It's a fabulous CAS design using one of the sentiments from the set.

And now a bit about my card. I'm not wild about this one. I wish I had given the stream a curve (I thought I did have it curving, but when I removed the masks, it just looked straight). Oh, well, I still learned from it. Here are the details...

I started by stamping the raccoon and then placed a post-it down and stamped the fish, so that just the top half would show on the paper.

Removed the mask and colored the raccoon with Copics, N3, N5, N7 and my blender pen.

Then used C3, C1, Y11 and RV21 to color the fish.

To make the mountains look snow covered, I first put down a bit of B21 in some of the shadowed areas.

Then added C3 over the blue and out a bit from it.

Went over the rest of the area with C1, leaving the peaks white, then used my blender pen to soften the transition from C1 to blank paper. I also added just a bit of E31 to the base of the mountains.

The trees were colored with YG93 and YG95, the boulders with W3 and my blender pen.

I used my Versa Mark pen to cover all the images with ink, then heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. Then I started sponging the background. First I sponged just a tiny bit of So Saffron, then placed a 1/2 circle mask down and sponged a bit more for the sun. I should have put the sun on the right side of the mountains, based on how I colored them with the lightest parts on the right, but I just wanted it that way. Artistic liscense, don'tcha know!

Sponged in some Bashful Blue ink in the sky.

Followed up with some Lavender Lace ink.

In the foreground, I tore some paper to serve as a mask, and sponged Certainly Celery and Old Olive.

More torn paper and sponging with Bashful Blue, Ballet Blue and Not Quite Navy.

Final bit of tearing and more Certainly Celery and Old Olive.

I used some Copics to do a bit of extra shading in the foreground, added some white to the stream with my Sakura gel pen and sponged some Creamy Caramel to the foreground, followed by a bit of Basic Black around the edges.

I layered with Pure Luxury Black Onyx, Soft Sand and a card base of Chocolate Kiss. The stitching was a feeble attempt to make the card look better, LOL. Not sure it helped, but I don't think it hurt.

Well that's about it for today. I'll try to make something better for my next project. Don't forget to go see Deb! And read through her whole post. You never know when she'll have one of her funny "the antics of Sheila" stories!

Have a great stamping day and thanks for visiting!
