Horses in Pasture

Hi and happy Sunday! I got up early and squeezed in a little stamping time. I played along with the inspiration challenge at SCS yesterday and chose this photo for my inspiration. I remembered this card by Patricia and loved the way she positioned the images, so I decided to "borrow" her idea for my card.

Here are the deets...

I colored the image with Koh-i-noor colored pencils, blended with odorless mineral spirits (OMS). I started by stamping the horse head from my Out West set on the side of a piece of Pure Luxury White cardstock. Then I added some of the golden yellow to the mane and blended with OMS and a blending stump.

Next I added the dark brown.

Used my blending stump, dipped in OMS several times to spread out the color.

Added the lighter brown.

Used my blending stump and OMS to spread that color.

Added a bit more of the light brown and some black in the darkest areas, again using my blending stump and OMS. Then used the black on the bridle.

Then I stamped the horse image and drew in light brown in all the darkest areas.

Then I used my blending stump with OMS to spread the color. I had to add a bit more of the light brown in a few areas, but I kept this horse lighter so it would appear farther away.

Used black for the mane and tail.

Next I used my Versa Mark pen to go over both images, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Sponged Certainly Celery and Old Olive on the lower portion of the paper, then sponged Bashful Blue and Ballet Blue on the upper portion. I used a Copic marker (YG93) to add a bit of grass.

Then I stamped an image from Lovely as a Tree (Stampin' Up), with Sahara Sand ink, in the background.

I layered the image with Pure Luxury Black Onyx and Ivory, then adhered it to a Chocolate Chip (SU) card base.

I have some more links to share of some wonderful cards using images from Out West.
