Hey there! I am starting to feel alive again thanks to the wonders of modern medicine. The doc gave me antibiotics and I feel like a new person. The card above is for two challenges over at stampTV this week. One is Cammie's Color Challenge to make a monochromatic card and the other is Joanne's Potluck Friday Challenge which is an inspiration challenge this week.
There is still lots of time to play in both challenges, plus there are several others to participate in, each with a random chance to win a free Gina K Designs stamp set. You can see them all here.
I used a few of Melanie Muenchinger's stamp sets on this card, A Year of Flowers and A Charmed Life. Did you know Melanie is celebrating a birthday this weekend? You can wish her a happy birthday on her blog here.
Here are a few details on how I made this card...
I inked up the top portion only of the wine glass from A Charmed Life.
Next, I stamped the tulip from A Year of Flowers around the top of the vase. To figure out how I wanted them arranged, I stamped the tulip several times on scrap paper and cut them out. Then I laid them on my cardstock, moving them around until I was happy with the look.
I wanted one of the tulips to be more toward the front to give some depth to my image, so I used one of my cut tulips to act as a mask. Then I stamped the tulip behind it right over the mask.
Here it is after I removed the mask. There were so many stems, that I just drew them in, rather than trying to stamp and mask that many.
To color the tulips, I started by coloring in the darker areas with Copic marker, V06.
Then I carried the color out a bit with V04.
Next I used V01, leaving just a few areas uncolored. I used my blender pen to blend the colors.
Went back with V06 and added V15 in the very darkest areas.
Used YG93 and YG03 on the stems.
B00 for the water and C1 & C3 for some shading on the glass.
After coloring the images, I went over them with my Versa Mark pen and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I sponged the background using So Saffron, Almost Amethyst, Lavender Lace and Perfect Plum.
I used my Martha Stewart lace border punch on the Pure Luxury Ivory layer and stamped the sentiment from A Charmed Life twice. The card base is Lavender Lace.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend!!!
Glad you are starting to feel better! The tulips are stunning. How clever of you to use part of the wine glass to hold the tulips! Beautiful coloring!!!
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear you're on the mend. I love this card because the image reminds me of the gorgeous bunch of tulips I received from my daughter for Mother's Day. They were exactly this colour and I think tulips are my favourite spring flower.
