Stair Step Card

I made this card for the featured stamper challenge at SCS yesterday and for a challenge Jessica issued at Paper Craft Planet to make a thank you card. The feature stamper this week was Wendybell and, wow, does she have an amazing gallery.

This is the card I chose to use for inspiration. We were to change at least four things on our card. I changed the following...

Reversed the layout
Used different leaf stamps
Added punch swirls
Sponged background
Changed colors

To make the stair step card you need to start with a piece of card stock cut to 5 by 10 1/2 inches.

Then score at 1 1/4" - 2 1/2" - 4 1/4", 6" and 8 1/4." Then fold in a zig zag pattern to create the steps. It is also nice to use images that you can cut out to add some dimension to the card.

I decided to add some sponged panels to my card. I cut three pieces of card stock.

The first piece I cut to 1 by 5 inches, the second to 1 3/4 by 5 inches and the third to 2 by 5 inches. Then I sponged with So Saffron, Creamy Caramel and Chocolate Chip inks.

I ran each panel through the Birds and Swirls embossing folder in my Cuttlebug and then adhered them to the card. I added a ribbon to the bottom panel.

Then I just added my cut out images and punched swirls. One thing I did to add a bit of stability to the butterfly is stamp the image a second time on brown card stock and cut it out. Then I glued the colored image to the solid image. This made the antenna and wing tips a bit sturdier.

Stamps used - leaves from Botanical Dreams and Autumn Leaves (Gina K), butterfly from Butterfly Beauty (Unity), sentiment from So Grateful (Gina K)

Ink - So Saffron, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Black Stazon.

Card stock - Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Black

I hope you have a wonderful day!

I'm off to go check out Wendybell's gallery. I have to admit I'm not very familiar with the "featured stamper" challenge. I didn't see Jessica's challenge on PCP either. :) Just a day behind on everything these days! lol!
