My mom gave me this idea for using the scallop punch from Stampin' Up to make ice cream cones, so I thought I would pass it on to you.
Start with a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock and score every 1/4 inch.
Rotate your paper 90 degrees and score every 1/4 inch until you have a grid pattern.
Using your paper trimmer, cut out a cone shape. I just eyeballed it and trimmed them later to fit my card.
I found that the finished size for the cone came in at about 1 1/4 inches wide, by 2 3/8 high.
For the scoop of ice cream, start by punching a scallop circle. I used the scallop punch from Stampin' Up. Then slide it into a 1 1/2 inch circle punch so that some of the scallops are clear of the cutting blade and punch it out.
I used my paper snips to trim the sharp edge on each side.
Next punch out the remainder of the ice cream scoops. I did some sponging around the edges.
When you assemble your ice cream cones, be sure the cones are turned so the the raised lines are up. I may need to get some of that metallic rub on paste from Gina K. I think that would have made the raised score lines on the cones really pop.
The chocolate ice cream was made from Close to Cocoa card stock. The vanilla was made from Very Vanilla and the Strawberry one was made from Pretty in Pink (all Stampin' Up).
Here is another sample. If you make a card using this technique, send me a link so I can see. I would love to see what you come up with. Wouldn't bubblegum ice cream be fun to try, or how about three scoops?
Have a wonderful day!
