Lovely Sunset

This is my try at a Zindorf style card. Although it is not a case of any particular card of hers, I did take inspiration from a collection of her cards. I stalk her blog daily and have picked up a technique or two. Michelle Zindorf is an amazing blogger and produces a new tutorial nearly every day.

I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock and covered the bottom half with post-it notes, lining them up to make a straight horizon line. Then I put a punched circle down with repositionable tape, overlapping the post-its slightly.

I sponged the sky with So Saffron ink, getting heavier near the sides. Then I went back with More Mustard on the sides (not pictured). I may have added a bit of red, too, but I can't remember for sure (oops).

Next, I turned it upside down to do the water. This time the post-it are covering up the sky. Making note of the approximate position of the sun, I stamped blue for the water, leaving it nearly white where the sun would reflect on the water.

I used a darker blue near the edges.

To do the land in the distance, I took a piece of copy paper, cut slightly larger that my card stock, and folded it in half. Then I tore a narrow section from each side at the fold. I opened it up and placed the paper on the card stock, making sure to line up the fold line with the horizon line.

I sponged some Chocolate Chip ink to form the shadow of the land.

Next, I placed post-it notes back on the horizon line, covering up the shadows I just sponged. Then I sponged Basic Black ink very heavily to make the actual land.

I stamped trees using black Stazon and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. I used a tree stamp from Lovely as a Tree (Stampin' Up).

For the foreground, I tore the edges off a few more post-it notes and sponged with Basic Black ink.


Then I added some trees to those areas.
