Embossed Envelope Pocket Card Tutorial and Video

Hello! Today I have a take on a technique I shared here a long time ago. It's a version of the Crimped Envelope Technique, but instead of using a crimper, I used an embossing folder. In the crimped version, you trim a piece off the side of a sealed envelope and crimp the larger section. The crimping makes that piece narrower, allowing it to fit inside the other piece.

Using an embossing folder works the same way, although it doesn't seem to make quite a much of a size difference, so the topper piece fits a bit more snugly. It's a fan variation, though, and a great way for folks who don't have a crimper tool.

Here is a video for you and if you want to watch directly at youtube, click here

And if you would like to see the Crimped Envelope video I did a few years ago, click here

Begin by sealing the flap on an A2 (4 3/8 by 5 3/4 inch) ivory envelope.

Trim 1 1/4 inch from the side.

Sponge the sides using Gina K Sweet Corn ink.

Sponge the sides using Gina K Innocent Pink ink.

Using the foliage image from Up and Away, stamp several times using Gina K Warm Cocoa ink, but stamp off on scratch paper to make the image lighter.

Emboss the large piece of the envelope, with the opening facing the top of the embossing folder. I used Spellbinders® Bricks and Bark M'Bossibilities folder. Then set aside the envelope.

Stamp the large and medium hot air balloons, from Up and Away, using Gina K Dark Chocolate ink.

Begin coloring, using Copic marker, E97.

Blend out using E95.

Then fill in with E93.

Use R05 to color in the horizontal band on the larger balloon. Use E00 to fill in the tiny open air area between the baskets and balloons. Cut out both images using scissors.

Stamp both clouds using Gina K Dark Chocolate ink.

Use E33 to begin coloring.

Add E31, then use the blender pen to smooth out the transition into the white areas.

Adhere the images to the embossed pocket, using self adhesive foam squares. Stamp sentiment on 1/2 inch strip of ivory cardstock and adhere. Place topper piece over the embossed pocket section and tie brown cord around the topper.

Sorry, I missed taking photos of the insert (I showed it in the video). The over-all size for the insert is 4 by 4 1/4 inches. This project makes a great way to give a gift card. Just add a glue dot to your insert and stick the gift card on ti, then place inside the envelope pocket.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great day!

Spring Poppies Card Making Tutorial and Video

Hello! Today I have a Vertical Greetings card to share with you. Out here in California, we finally got a taste of winter so, after all that rain, I was feeling in the mood for spring and chose these soft springlike colors for my background.

Here is the video.

And here is a link to the video on Youtube.

Start by stamping the poppy image, from Vertical Greetings, on white cardstock, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Begin coloring with Copic marker YR68.

Add Y17.

Fill in with Y13.

Use YG95 for the stem. After coloring, cut out the image.

Trim white cardstock to 3 by 4 1/4 inches and begin sponging with Memento Cantaloupe ink.

Sponge Memento New Sprout.

Sponge Memento Angel Pink.

Sponge Memento Summer Sky.

Emboss using Spellbinders® Harlequin M-Bossibilities folder.

Stamp the vertical birthday greeting on a 1/2 inch wide strip of white cardstock and trim into two pieces. Use a corner rounder punch to round opposite corners on each piece.

Layer the sponged background with a piece of Pure Luxury Ocean Mist cardstock and adhere the image & sentiment using Self Adhesive Foam Squares. Wrap pink burlap string around opposite corners and tie into a bow. Then adhere to a 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inch white card base.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope your day is fantastic!
