Feel Better Flutterings Card Making Tutorial and Video

Hi everyone! I have a card, using Signs of Spring, that I shared at the release party last week. I did step by step photos (below) and a video of this one.

Here is a video and HERE is a link to the video at Youtube.

Start by cutting ivory cardstock using Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A (or trim to 2 ½ by 3 ¾ inches). Then sponge Gina K Sweet Corn ink along the sides and top.

Sponge Gina K Fresh Asparagus along the bottom.

Sponge Gina K Warm Cocoa along all four sides.

Stamp the silhouette branch three times. I used black on my card, but I think I would have liked brown better.

Use an opaque white gel pen to add highlights to the leaves. Then set the background aside.

Stamp the two butterflies on white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Begin coloring using Copic marker E15.

Add YR07.

Then fill in with Y23. After coloring, cut out the wings.

Stamp the butterflies on your background and use an N5 Copic marker to color in their bodies.

Glue the wings onto the stamped images.

Cut an oval from ivory cardstock using Spellbinders Classic Ovals SM and sponge around the edges using Fresh Asparagus ink.

Then sponge lightly with Warm Cocoa. Sorry I didn't get a photo of that step.

Stamp the sentiment.

Adhere the image layer to a piece of Pure Luxury Dark Chocolate cardstock and wrap burlap string around opposite corner, tying in a bow. Use adhesive foam squares to adhere to the Sweet Corn card base and more adhesive foam squares to add the oval layer.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great day!

Here is a video I created to show you how I made my card. There are step by step photos below. I also have video shot of all the cards I shared at the release party last week, so stay tuned for those to show up on my blog.

Start by stamping the crocus image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Color using Copic markers, beginning with V06.

Add V04.

Then fill in with V01.

I wanted a bit more contrast on the flowers, so I went back with my V06 marker.

For the stems, start with YG09.

Then fill in with YG25.  After coloring, cut out the image.

Trim white cardstock to 4 ½ by 4 ½ inches, then score at 4 ½. Position Spellbinders® Classic Squares LG die template (largest die template in the set) on one side and secure in place with low tack tape. Then emboss.

With the die template still in place add sticky notes to mask around the outside. Then sponge Gina K Fresh Asparagus ink in the bottom right corner.

Sponge Gina K Sweet Corn.

Sponge Gina K Wild Lilac.

Then sponge in the remaining area with Gina K Innocent Pink.

Stamp the silhouette branch, also from Signs of Spring, a few times using Innocent Pink.

Remove the masks & die template and stamp the sentiment using Gina K Wild Lilac.

Adhere the cut out flowers to the card base using dimensional foam squares.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Reflection Trees Card Making Video Tutorial

Hello! Today I have one more The Northwoods video to share with you. This is the last one for a while, I promise! I wanted to do a video of a sponged scene using only two colors to make it a bit easier to people that are new to sponging.

Here is the video.

Direct link to video on Youtube.

To start, cut and emboss white cardstock using Spellbinders® A2 Modern Stationary die template. Then stamp the trees, from The Northwoods, using Gina K Black ink.

To create the reflection, stamp the image on acetate, then turn it over and carefully place where you want the reflection. Hold it securely and rub gently over the image. When you lift the acetate sheet away, the reverse image should be left behind.

Note: I used the acetate sheet that came with the stamp set to do this. You can also use transparency sheets or a reverse image stamp.

Place sticky notes over the top image and trace along the contour line. Remove the sticky notes and trim along the line, then put it back in place to mask above the contour line.

Lightly sponge along the mask using Gina K Fresh Asparagus ink.

Trim a wavy line in another sticky note and place a bit lower than the first, then sponge using Gina K Powder Blue ink.

Remove the mask and sponge around the edges of the die template using Powder Blue ink.

Use a 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inch, Powder Blue card base and add decorative score lines with your Scor-Buddy. Stamp the sentiment on white and cut using Spellbinders Classic Ovals. Adhere both die cuts to the card base.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great day!
