Woodsy Pink Sunset Tutorial and Invitation

Hello! It is release party time at StampTV tonight and you're invited. The party is from 7 to 9pm Central, at StampTV. All the new release stamp sets will become available in the Gina K Designs online shop at that time. Here is another peek at my newest stamp set, The Northwoods. All the illustrators are showing samples today, so be sure to check their blogs to see what they have to show you…

Start hopping here:

Gina K

Becky Oehlers

Beth Silaika

Debbie Corbari

Melanie Muenchinger

Tami Mayberry

Theresa Momber

To start, I cut a piece of Pure Luxury White card stock to 4 3/4 by 3 1/2 inches, then sponged Memento Cantaloupe ink in the center.

I cut a circle to mask for the sun and placed it over the yellow ink, using repositionable tape to get it to stay in place. Then I sponged around the sun using Gina K Innocent Pink ink.

Sponged with Memento Rose Bud ink.

Sponged Gina K Red Hot ink.

Then I stamped the large tree and the smaller row of trees, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I used torn sticky notes to mask off the top and sponged Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I repositioned the sticky notes higher and sponged a bit more. This time I used the same sponge dauber, but tapped off on scratch paper first so it would be mostly dry and come out lighter.

I removed the mask and colored in the tree trunk with E49.

Then with N5, I created some shadows extending from the trees.

Next, I used an opaque white get pen to add some highlights to some of the tree branches.

Stamped the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I layered with Pure Luxury Dark Chocolate card stock and used a white card base (5 ½ by 4 ¼ inches).

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

The Northwoods Sneak Peek and Tutorial

Hello! This week Gina is showing sneak peeks of all the new stamp sets being release from Gina K Designs on Thursday. Today she is showing snippets from my new set, The Northwoods and Becky's new set, Poster Board Sentiments.  Becky and I each have a project to show you today, using our new sets. Mine is a simple one layer card using the grove of trees from my new set.

The release party is at 7pm over at StampTV and all the new release stamp sets will be live in the online store at that time. I hope to see you there. But in the mean time, keep an eye on Gina's blog for all the latest news and don't forget to pop on over to Becky's blog to check out her fabulous projects for today.

To make my card, I cut Pure Luxury Ivory card stock to form a 5 ½ by 4 ¼ inch card base. I scored the fold line, but didn't actually fold the card base yet. I find it easier to stamp on a single layer card if it can still lie flat, but having the score line in place helps me line up the stamped image where I want it. I stamped the trees, from The Northwoods, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

You know those acetate sheets the clear stamps come on when you first buy them? Well, I always move my stamps over to the binder sheet that comes with all of Gina's full size stamp sets, but I like to keep some of those acetate sheets around to use for odds and ends. One fantastic use for the sheets is to make mirror images. I wanted a reflection of the trees I had already stamped. So I stamped the trees again, this time on that acetate sheet.

Then I turned the acetate sheet over and upside-down and centered it below the stamped trees on my card base. I rubbed over the back of the acetate sheet, then lifted it away and I was left with a mirror image of the trees, only just a tad lighter, since some of the ink stayed behind on the acetate sheet. Since  the acetate is not porous, the ink stays wet and makes a lovely image. I find I like using the acetate sheet even better than the Reverse Image Stamp that I have, since that is rubber and I can't see to line it up well.

Next, I masked off the bottom image using sticky notes and sponged Memento Rich Cocoa Ink above.

I cut a curved line in the sticky notes, positioned them a little higher and sponged again.

Moved one more time and a little more sponging.

I removed the sticky notes and sponged a bit more Rich Cocoa below.

I used the same sticky notes, lining up the curves to the ones above and sponged the reflection, the same way, only lighter.

For a little more contrast, I used a E25 Copic marker to add some shading.

Stamped the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black.

To finish the card, I added some score lines around the sentiment. I like raised score lines on the front of my card, so I held the card up to some light and made fain pencil marks on the inside, to show myself where the sentiment was. Then I put the card in my Score-Buddy, upside down and scored. The pencil marks helped me see where to start and stop scoring, so I wouldn't accidentally score right through the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Orange Calla Lilies Tutorial

Happy Friday! I decided to pull out Elegant Flowers  for a little inspiration. I've never colored orange calla lilies before, so I decided it was time.

I started by cutting Pure Luxury Ivory card stock using Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® A2 Matting Basics. I stamped a branch twice with VersaMark, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Next I sponged Memento New Sprout ink to create an embossed resist look.

Sponged Memento Bamboo Leaves.  I left the card stock in the die template while sponging to create a frame around the background.

On a pice of white card stock, I stamped the lily with Memento Espresso Truffle. Then I began coloring with Y17 Copic.

Filled in with Y21.

Added YR04.

Added YR07.

Added E19.

For the stem, I used YG25.

Next, I added some shading with YG95. After coloring, I fussy cut the image, then colored and cut out a second calla lily.

Using some gorgeous wrinkled edge sheer ribbon, from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, I tied a bow around the flowers.

I adhered the flowers and layers using Pop Dots, then added some Zva bling to embellish. The card base is Pure Luxury Ivory Base Weight and 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inches. I embossed a frame using a larger die template from the A2 Matting Basics A set.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope your weekend rocks!

Country Get Well Card Tutorial

Hello! Today I decided to play along with the Sketch Challenge over at SCS. I still had Country Roads sitting on my desk from last week, so I used it again for this card.

To start I cut a piece of Pure Luxury White card stock to 2 ¼ by 5 ¼ inches and sponged Memento Cantaloupe ink, using a Jumbo Sponge Dauber.

Sponged Memento Tangelo.

Sponged Memento Potter's Clay.

Sponged Memento Angel Pink.

Sponged Memento Summer Sky.

Sponged Memento Danube Blue.

Sponged Memento London Fog.

Using a torn sticky note as a mask, I sponged the bottom with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Removed the mask and stamped the wind mill with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Next, I stamped the truck on another piece of white, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Began coloring with my B93 Copic marker.

Then added B95.

On the tires I used N5.

Then used C3 for the rims and fender. After coloring, I cut out the image.

The sentiment is from Vogue Vases 2. I layered with Pure Luxury Blue Denim and used a 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inch Kraft card base.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a fabulous day!
