Gina K - Thermo-web Blog Hop Day One

Hello! The team at Gina K Designs™ is so excited to be sharing inspiration with you today, featuring an entire new product line, designed by Gina herself, for Therm O Web™.  The new line of products are all designed to coordinate together so you'll have everything you need to create stunning foil embossed projects. In addition to Foil-Mates™and Fancy Foils™, the line also includes custom dies! You can find the entire Therm O Web Foil Mates™ collection at the Gina K Designs store by clicking here.

Pictures just don't do justice to how stunning Foil Mates™ cards are in person. Each foil has it's own unique shine and shimmer and they change as you look at them from different angles. When I showed my husband this card, he made me take him to my craft room so I could demonstrate how it is done. It's just amazing what you can do with a simple laminator, foil and cardstock.

Here is a second card I made using the new products. So fun!  At this angle you can see I used different color foils for the stars, the sentiment and each of the balloons.

Here is the whole card, taken with a light pointed directly at it. The foiled images just glow and shimmer in the light.

Enjoy the gorgeous inspiration samples from the team and then comment on each blog. We will be selecting one lucky commenter at the end of the hop from a combination of all three days of comments and that person will win a $50 Gina K Designs gift certificate! To see who won, check the Big News Forum at StampTV a few days after the hop.

Don’t forget to pop over to the Gina K Designs Store and check out all of the new products available this month in the “What’s New” section at http://www.ginakdesigns.com.

To make the first card above, I started by cutting out the birthday image, from the Birthday Essentials Foil Mates™ pack, using the largest oval from the Oval Small Set.

With the die cut still in the die, I sponged around the edges, lightly, using Gina K Wild Dandelion ink.

Next, I cut strips of foil from the Sweet Mango, Wild Dandelion, Pink Passion and Turquoise Set Fancy Foils™

I placed the different color foil pieces (colored side up) over the specific parts of the image where I wanted the colors to be, trimming them as needed. Then I sandwiched the oval with foils in a folded piece of parchment paper (included in the Foil Mates™ package) and ran it through my heat laminator.

Tip - when placing multiple pieces of foils over an image, you may want to place just a few pieces at a time, running it through the laminator each time. I found that having several pieces made it harder to keep everything in place as I was positioning it in my laminator, but when I just did a few pieces at a time, it was much easier. Also, if you foil slips and doesn't cover the image completely, you can just place another piece of foil over the portion that didn't get foiled and just run it through the laminator again.

Here is a close-up of the oval after foiling.

Next, I cut a section from the Dots & Strings Background Foil Mates™ and sponged around the edges using Wild Dandelion ink.

Then I sponged the center using Pink Passion ink.

After sponging, I cut a piece of Wild Dandelion Fancy Foil™ just slightly larger than the cardstock and ran it through my laminator, while sandwiched in a folded piece of parchment.

To complete the card, I layered the oval with black cardstock, cut using the largest oval from Oval Large Die Set. I also used black to layer the background and adhered it all to a pink passion card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope your day is wonderful.
