Gina K Blog Hop : Bella Elephant, So Cool & Sweet Thing

Hello! It's the second day of hopping for the latest Gina K Designs release. Today we are featuring a new stamp set from Beth Salaika, called Bella Elephant, along with four of Claire Brennan's sets, Petite Patisserie, My Island, So Cool and Sweet Thing.

For my card above, I used the small bear cupcake topper to make a scene card. I cut out the bear after coloring, then placed him on a few "clouds" cut from white cardstock. I sponged the background and then added stars using an opaque white gel pen. To make some of the stars look like they are falling, I drew in a fine line with the gel pen then smeared them upward with my finger to make them fade out.

I used images from So Cool for this card. For a photo tutorial on this one, just scroll down.

Here is a card I made using images from My Island. I love that this set has great images for scene building.

Next up is a card I made using Bella Elephant. I have a photo tutorial for this card below, as well.

Here is one more using Bella Elephant, because I can't resist that sweet elephant. I color the image on white cardstock and then cut it out, adhered it to the card base and then added some shading with Copics.

Enjoy the gorgeous inspiration samples from the team and then comment on each blog for your chance to win a $20 Gina K Designs gift certificate! To see who won, check the Big News Forum at StampTV a few days after the hop.

To start the elephant card, stamp the elephant, at an angle on white cardstock, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then stamp it on scratch paper (or a sticky note) that you'll used for a mask. After stamping, cut out the mask image.

Begin coloring with an N5 Copic marker.

Add N1.

Fill most of the way in with N1.

Use R83 for the feet.

Then fill in with R81.

Place the mask over the image and secure with repositionable tape.

Cut an arc from a sticky note and place over the mask, then sponge lightly with Gina K Fresh Asparagus.

Add a shadow around and below the elephant using Copic marker BV00.

Remove the arc mask and sponge lightly around the top and sides using Gina K Wild Lilac.

Remove the elephant mask and add a shadow around and below the elephant using Copic marker BV00.

Stamp the sentiment using Gina K Black Onyx ink.

Cut some narrow strips of Innocent Pink cardstock and adhere to a Wild Lilac card base.

Frame the image layer with a piece of Black Onyx cardstock and adhere both pieces to the card base.

For the ice cream card, start by stamping the small ice cream cone three times on white cardstock, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Start coloring the cherries on top using R29 Copic marker.

Add R24.

Fill in with R20.

For the ice cream scoops, use E57 for the first, R24 for the second and E53 for the third.

Add E55, E22 and E51.

Fill in with E53, R20 and E00.

For the waffle cone, start with E35.

Add E33.

Fill in with E31.

After coloring, use scissors to cut out the images.

Cut and emboss white cardstock with a rectangle die template and sponge around the edges, with the die cut still in the die template, using Gina K Bubblegum Pink ink.

Adhere the cones to the rectangle using dimensional foam squares and layer with a piece of Pure Luxury Dark Chocolate cardstock. Adhere both layers to a Bubblegum pink card base using dimensional foam squares. Stamp the sentiment on a small piece of white cardstock and adhere to the card, adding a mini clothespin to embellish.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Gina K Blog Hop Day French Flair and Stately Flowers 10

Hello and welcome to the Gina K Designs blog hop for July. Today we are featuring two new stamp sets : French Flair, illustrated by myself, and Stately Flowers 10, illustrated by Melanie Muenchinger.

First up is French Flair. This set is filled with images inspired French iconography. There are many versatile ways to use the elements in this stamp set.  In the card above, you can see how the eiffel tower image can be used to create a scene card. (video coming soon).

Here you can see how some of the images can be used to color and create a vignette.

And in this card I layered a variety of the images to create and eclectic assemblage on a single layer card.

Here is a video tutorial to show you how I created the butterfly card.

Next up is Melanie's latest, Stately Flowers 10. This is the 10th in this popular series and contains such beautiful images.

I always love Melanie's flowers and I adore the fun new "seed packet" image she created to go with this set.

Here is another card I created with Stately Flowers 10. For a photo tutorial to see how I made it, be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this post.

Enjoy the inspiration samples from the team and then comment on each blog for your chance to win a $20 Gina K Designs gift certificate! To see who won, check the Big News Forum at StampTV a few days after the hop.

To make the dogwood card, start by stamping the dogwood image onto white cardstock, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Begin coloring with Copic marker YG93 in the center of the flowers.

Use BV13 for the darker areas on the petals.

Add BV11.

Add BV00, leaving some areas uncolored where you'd like the petals to be highlighted.

Use YG95 for the stem and leaves. Use a colorless blender pen on the leave tips to push a bit of color away, leaving the tips a bit highlighted.

Use scissors to cut out the image.

Cut and emboss white cardstock using a rectangle die template. Sponge around the edges using Gina K Black Onyx ink, very lightly. I tapped off the sponge dauber on scratch paper to get the excess ink off before sponging.

Sponge around the edges again, using Gina K Wild Lilac ink.

Stamp the dogwood sentiment using Black Onyx ink.

Stamp the birthday sentiment on a narrow band of white cardstock Adhere the image to the sponged background and layer with pieces of Pure Luxury Black Onyx and Lovely Lavender cardstock. Adhere the layers to a 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inch Sandy Beach card base, adding a large strip of dark grey cardstock. I used some burlap paper that I had on hand to add some texture. Adhere the sentiment and tuck some rolled string behind one corner of the layers.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you have a great day!
