Peace and Joy Inspiration Blog Hop and Video

Hello! Today the design team at Gina K Designs are having a blog hop featuring one of the new stamp sets from our November release, Peace and Joy, illustrated by me. I hope you get a chance to hop along. For my card, I cut out the cardinal image, after coloring, and placed it on the pine branch, for an out of the box look on this clean and layered design.

Here is the video I created to show you how to make this card. If you prefer to watch directly at Youtube, just click here.

Peace and Joy Video and Tutorial

Hello! Here is another peek at my new stamp set, coming out tomorrow, called Peace and Joy. It will be available from Gina K Designs, starting at 7pm Central tomorrow. There will be a release party at StampTV tomorrow at 7pm Central, as well.

Here is a video I made to show you how I created the card. If you prefer to watch directly at Youtube, click here.

Begin by cutting and embossing white cardstock with Spellbinders® A2 Matting Basics A die template. Cut along the edge of a sticky note to create a mask for a snowbank and place over the die cut.

Sponge Gina K Powder Blue ink along the mask, working it up into the upper area somewhat.

Sponge Gina K Navy ink, just along the very edge of the mask.

Remove the first mask and create a second one, placing it lower on the die cut. Sponge with Gina K Powder Blue.

Sponge along the very edge of this mask with Gina K Navy ink.

Remove the previous mask and create a third and final mask, placing it near the bottom of the die cut. Sponge with Gina K Powder Blue, this time keeping the ink a bit lighter that before.

And sponge again with Gina K Navy just along the edge, very, very lightly.

Sponge around the edges of the die template with more Powder Blue ink.

Remove the die cut from the die template and use a sticky not to mask the left side. Then stamp with the pine cone branch image, using Gina K Black Onyx ink. I also stamped the image a second time, more to the left, to get a few more pine needles to show along the edge.

Begin coloring with Copic Marker E37 in the darker areas of the pink cone and branch.

Fill in the pine cone with E33.

Add some color to the pine needles with YG97. Swipe along each needle with the brush tip of your marker, lifting at the end of your stroke, for the best effect.

For the card base, prepare a 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inch card base and emboss a frame in the front with a larger die template from the A2 Matting Basics A set. Stamp the sentiment on a ½ inch strip of white cardstock. Trim Pure Luxury In the Navy cardstock to fit behind the sentiment and die cut pieces and adhere layers. Secure the image layer to the card base, then add the sentiment using adhesive foam squares.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope your day is wonderful!

CardMaker & Inchie Arts Blog Hop

Hello there! Today the CardMaker team are joining the Inchie Arts Design Team for a fun fall themed blog hop featuring Inchie Arts wonderful Art Squares.

The Art Squares from Inchie Arts come in several sizes. I used the 4 inch squares for my project. I love how sturdy their squares are and how beautifully they accept so many different mediums. Since they are so thick and sturdy, you can really create something lasting, that can be used for home decor.

I made a fall wall hanging with the 4 inch square and made a coil of heavy wire to use for hanging it. First, I punched two holes in the top, for the wire, using my Crop-a-dial. Then I painted the surface of the art board with craft paint and let it dry. Even though I used a liberal amount of paint, there was no warping at all of the art board. I love that!

I sponged some brown ink around the edges , then stamped some silhouette grasses for my background. Some colored and stamped images were added using self adhesive foam squares and accented with some loops of silver cord tucked in behind. The words were stamped onto cardstock, and glued on. Then I added the wire for hanging.

The finished project is so sturdy, it will surely last to use year after year as part of my fall decorations.  What a fun hostess gift this would make!

Next on the blog hop is the  Inchie Arts Blog.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!
