CardMaker Magazine and The Paperloft Blog Hop

Hello! I am so pleased to be blog hopping today with the CardMaker and The Paperloft blog teams. The Paperloft is a fabulous pattern paper supplier.  There are many collections to choose from and you can also find coordinating accessory sheets and layouts. I love that they have a gallery full of ideas right there on their website.

I fell in love with the Island Sun collection and used it on my card. The designs are perfect for many card making occasions and they are so perfect for scrapbooking your favorite summer beach memories. I love that these papers will work great for masculine and kids cards, too!

Your next stop on the hop is Vicki Garrett.

The Paper Loft will be hosting a giveaway of a $25 gift certificate to their online store to one winner on their blog (http://thepaperloftlc.blogspot.com/).

To get started on the card, stamp the sailboat, from By the Sea 2 by Gina K Designs, onto white cardstock, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Begin coloring, using Copic marker Y23 on the sails.

Blend along the previous color using Y21, leaving a few uncolored areas as highlights.

Use a colorless blender pen to smooth out the transition from the yellow to uncolored areas.

For the main part of the boat, begin with Copic marker W5.

Then fill in with W1.

After coloring, cut out the image using scissors and set aside while you prepare the background.

Cut and emboss white cardstock with Spellbinders® Classic Ovals SM. Sponge around the edges with Gina K Ocean Mist ink with the die cut still in the die template.

Place a sticky note over the top section to mask for the sky and continue sponging with Ocean Mist ink.

Adhere the sail boat to the oval. Notice there are some white parts in the center of the image that would have required some extreme fussy cutting, so I just left them.

To make the white parts blend into the background, I filled in those areas with a BG10 Copic marker.

Add some ripples to the water by making squiggly lines with a BG02 Copic marker and a shadow below the sailboat with N3.

Trim a piece of the Island Sun paper to 4 ¾ inches by 1 ½ inches, then use scissors to cut a notch on one end to shape it like a banner.

Trim another piece of the Island Sun paper to 3 ¼ inches by 1 inch and cut a notch on one end.

Cut another piece to  ½ by 3 inches. Stamp the sentiment onto white cardstock and trim slightly smaller than the pattern paper. Layer and adhere.

Prepare a 4 ¾ inch square card base from white cardstock and adhere the banners. Attach the oval and sentiment layers using adhesive foam squares and embellish with self adhesive gems.

Thank you for visiting. I hope you all have a wonderful day and enjoy the hop!

Many Thanks Card Tutorial and Video

Hello! Today is the new Gina K Designs stamp release and release party and I get to show you a peek at my new stamp set, Always Autumn. If you've been watching Gina's snippets and sneak peeks, then you know there are some wonderful new products being released tonight, in addition to awesome new stamp sets. I used one of the new products, Gina K Gold Cord on my card today.

I hope you can come to the release party tonight. It starts at 7pm Central at StampTV. All the new products, including this new stamp set, will be available at that time, along with all the other new products.

Also, be sure to visit Melanie's blog today. She is showing a peek of her new set Fabulous Frames Filler!

Here is a video to show you how I made my card. If you prefer to watch directly from my Youtube Channel, just click here.

Note: I accidentally referred to YR04, YR07 and YR12 as YG markers in the video. Sorry for the confusion.

Begin by stamping the pumpkin/sunflower image onto white cardstock, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Using Copic markers to color, start with YR07 on the pumpkins.

Add YR04.

Fill in most of the way, using YR12, leaving just a few highlight areas uncolored.

Fill in completely using Y17. Then use Y17 to start coloring the sunflower petals.

Add Y23.

Then fill in the petals with Y000.

For the center of the sunflower, begin with E16.

Then fill in with E35.

Begin coloring the leaves using E37.

Continue coloring with E35.

Fill in with Y23, then use E33 to add a bit more shading and blending.

For the stems on the pumpkins, fill in with YG95.

Then shade with YG97. After coloring, use scissors to cut out the image and set aside.

For the background, cut and emboss white cardstock using Spellbinders® Radiant Rectangles. With the die cut still in the die template, begin sponging with Gina K Sweet Corn ink, sponging lighter in one corner and darker in the opposite corner.

Sponge Gina K Honey Mustard in the darker corner.

Create loops of gold cord and attach to back of pumpkin image using tape. Then adhere all layers using self adhesive foam squares onto a 3 ¾ by 5 ¾ inch Sandy Beach card base. The sentiment is also from Always Autumn and stamped onto a small strip of white cardstock.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Jute Twine Frame Card Video and Tutorial

Hello! Today I have a card featuring images from By the Sea from Gina K Designs. There is a lot going on in this card - Copic coloring, a sponged background with Copic highlights, and a jute twine frame.

Here is the video, but if you prefer to watch directly on Youtube, just click here.

Stamp the lighthouse image, from By The Sea, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Begin coloring using R27 Copic marker on the stripes.

Add R24.

Fill in the stripes using R02.

For the other areas, start with W5.

Add W3.

Fill in with W1 and use Y17 for the light.

For the ground, start with E35.

Fill in with E31, then deepen the shading at the base of the lighthouse with C5. After coloring, cut out the image with scissors.

Cut/emboss Spellbinders® Classic Ovals #7 (with #1 being the smallest die template) from white cardstock, then sponge using Gina K Sweet Corn ink.

Sponge around the edges with Gina K Warm Cocoa.

Sponge around the edges with Gina K Sweet Mango.

Place a sticky note over the top of the oval and sponge below using more Gina K Sweet Mango.

Remove the mask and the die cut from the die template. Stamp the birds using Gina K Black Onyx.

Add ripples to the water with an opaque white pen, then use E31 to shade. Create wispy clouds using E31, then use E33 to shade. Use the blender pen to soften the clouds.

Wrap lengths of twine around a 3 ¼ by 4 ½ inch piece of Honey Mustard cardstock, layered with a piece of Rich Cocoa cardstock, to create a frame. Assemble all layers and add sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day.
