Gina K Inspiration Blog Hop Day 3

Hello! It's our third day of inspiration for the Gina K Designs May release. Today we have two more stamp sets to feature, By The Sea 2, illustrated by me, and Weather or Not by Beth Silaika. This first card uses images from By The Sea 2. The step by step photos for this card are below.

Next up is Beth's Weather or Not. The images in this set are so adorable! I love the boot and decided to paper piece two, to make a pair. I do have step out photos for this card and will post the tutorial next week. It was so fun to make!

Now, for more inspiration, be sure to check out all the links below!

To make my nautilus card, I started by cutting and embossing white card stock using Spellbinders™ A2 Matting Basics A. Then I stamped the nautilus shell rich cocoa ink. I used a mask to keep just a tiny portion of the shell from stamping, so that later I could try to make it look like the shell was really in the sand, not just floating above it.

To color, I started with my E53 Copic marker.

 Then blended out with E00.

I wanted a little more contrast, so I added E35.

I stamped the nautilus shell on a piece of scratch paper and cut it out, then attached it, using re-positionable tape, to mask.

Then I began sponging using Memento Desert Sand ink for the sand.

I cut a curve into a sticky note to mask the bottom of the sand and sponged just a tiny bit more to make a ripple in the sand.

Then, from the top, I began sponging Memento Summer Sky.

Sponged Memento Bahama Blue.

Then I removed the mask and used a W3 Copic marker to add a shadow beneath the shell and also to give a bit more depth to the sand ripple.

I deepened the shadow under the shell with W5.

Then used C3 to create the edge of the water.

And C1 to soften that water edge.

With my opaque white gel pen, I added some ripples to the water.

Then, with my Desert Sand, London Fog and Toffee Crunch Memento Markers, I added a bunch of tiny dots to give texture to the sand.

The sentiment was stamped using Memento Rich Cocoa and the card base is Pure Luxury Kraft (5 ½ by 4 ¼ inches).

Thanks for visiting. We have one more day of inspiration coming tomorrow, so be sure to stop by. Have a wonderful day!

Theresa, I just love your work. Such a gift. Did you take classes to learn how to do the different levels of coloring and shading? I don't have copics but I do have spectrum noirs. But viewing your tutorials it's hard to tell what colors I would use. Any suggestions?
