Cloudy Skies Tutorial

Hello and Happy New Year! I had to start the new year off by making a scene card, so I dug out my Wild About You stamp set. I found this beautiful photo on Pinterest, so I used that for my inspiration.

To begin, I cut a piece of Pure Luxury White card stock to 3 ¼ by 5 inches. I used a hole punch to cut a small circle from a sticky note to use as a mask for the sun, then I sponged Memento Cantaloupe ink.

Then I added sticky notes to mask the bottom and sponged Memento Desert Sand.

Then sponged very lightly with Memento Peanut Brittle.

Starting at the top, I sponged Memento London Fog and worked my way down toward the yellow.

Then I sponged over the London Fog with Memento Summer Sky.

Then sponged a bit of Memento Danube Blue at the top.

Using a C3 Copic marker, I added some clouds.

Then used a C5 Copic marker to add some shading.

Blended out with BV000.

Then added some highlights to the clouds with an opaque white gel pen.

Next, I masked the top and bottom, leaving the center exposed and sponged Memento Lulu Lavender.

And sponged Desert Sand right over the lavender.

Here is what it looks like at this point.

Then I masked the top and center and sponged Memento Desert Sand on the bottom section.

Then sponged Memento Rich Cocoa. I used the smaller sponge dauber to create some low lights.

I rearranged my mask again and stamped the elephant and giraffe, from Wild About You.

The used E33 and C3 to add a shadow where the tan and lavender sections meet.

I stamped the medium grass using Memento Desert Sand and Toffee Crunch, in a random pattern.

I layered with Pure Luxury Smokey Slate and Sandy Beach. I used my Scor-Buddy to add some decorative score lines to the Sandy Beach layer. The sentiment is from Vogue Vases 2 and stamped on Ivory. Finished card size is 4 ½ by 6 ½ inches.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day and a beautiful new year!

Your card is fantastic Theresa. I read through the tutorial thinking that I'd like to duplicate it, but not sure if mine would even come close to your work of art. Thanks for sharing and hopefully one of these days I'll attempt making a card with such a gorgeous sky.
